Summary:

The Manufacturing Reprint Buyer's primary responsibility is to support the coordination of the ordering process required to purchase all inventoried products for the Cengage Group Higher Education, Career Education and National Geographic Learning businesses.

Position Description:

This position will work within established processes to complete all orders using the ETA, IPS, E1 and Catalyst systems. This will include creating personal workload reports, creating purchase orders, requesting quotes when needed and resolving invoices. This role will work with several partner groups including Cost Accounting, Accounts Payable, Production, Inventory, and internal Manufacturing staff.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Initiate appropriate internal and external documents in relation to manufacturing processes: cost estimates, paper requirements, purchase orders, and related correspondence.

  • Implement strategies to reduce manufacturing costs.

  • Maintains detailed records of correspondence with production team and vendors.

  • Use of AS400 JDE software to prepare purchase orders, including assembly orders.

  • Use of IPS system to communicate workflow with internal business customers.

  • Use of proprietary estimating program (e-Trans/Action) to retrieve pricing for standard scale items and request quotes direct from vendors for non-scale items

  • Plan, maintain, and communicate reprint manufacturing costs and schedules to customers.

  • Supervise vendor schedule reports and update reprint database for changes and connect with customers as vital.

  • Work with Cost Accounting to reconcile quantity/invoice discrepancies.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

Required:

  • A college degree or equivalent work experience in the field of printing/publishing.

  • Solutions and client/customer service oriented with a strong focus on delivering excellent service

  • Strong interpersonal, partnership, and organizational skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with experience in Word, Excel

  • Proven track record to consistently and positively contribute in a fast-paced environment by taking initiative

  • Ability to communicate and interact with all levels within the organization including vendors and internal customers

Preferred:

  • Previous experience with ETA, IPS, and E1

  • Proficient understanding of the print process
