We are looking for a versatile, dynamic, and agile Senior Learning Experience Designer to join the VMware Worldwide Readiness, Assessment, Certification & Enablement (WWRACE) Technical Content Solutions (TCS) team who will perform the research, design, and develop some of the world class digital training content for VMware's cutting-edge technologies.
Success in the role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining technical courseware (pre and post General Availability) for VMware customers, partners, and internal technical stakeholders.
Within 30 days of employment, familiarize and gain access to the different toolsets used to develop training content in addition to the documented process and best practices for the different training modalities.
Begin working on the first project with peers acting as a contributing team member to the workload and content build within 60 days of employment.
Transition to a primary developer role for content development on a project within 6 months of employment.
Within a year of employment, mentor fellow junior team members, contribute to the larger team initiatives, and consult with fellow team members on continuing to evolve the learning experience.
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Use instructional design principles to evaluate and translate learning requests into content that meets both the learner and business needs.
Design and develop customer and internal facing Instructor Led, OnDemand, and eLearning Technical Training Content using learning development tools (Camtasia, Storyline, Rise, Xyleme, etc.) across multiple VMware products.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand roadmap, product design, usability for customers, and validate course design and content.
Participate in ongoing meetings with stakeholders regarding project status, retrospective meetings of courses developed, and provide feedback to improve courseware.
Work with multiple VMware teams regarding consistency in designing, developing, and implementing training materials to provide an engaging learner experience.
What is leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
This position reports to one of the Managers within the Technical Content Solutions team. The immediate team consists of nine members with many years of experience in building out technical training for multiple modalities. The team is responsible for two portfolios which include the endpoint and workload security products and the cloud management products. The global team is fully remote with employees spanning four different countries and five different time zones.
Where is this role located?
This role is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable, or the location agreed upon with your hiring manager. You will be expected to live within a number of time zones from your team as defined by your business.
