Job Description

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm of more than 1,800 professionals that provides a full range of multi-disciplined architecture, engineering, information technology, and related services for K-12 schools, higher education, and to public agencies and private clients throughout the United States.

JMT is seeking a Summer Intern to join the Architecture team in Hunt Valley, MD. The intern will be asked to assist Architecture design staff to carry out an array of specific tasks. The tasks will range from researching building products and materials; assisting with producing architectural design and construction drawings; conducting site visits and building surveys to verify existing field conditions; utilizing various computer programs to generate design options; assembling presentation materials; assisting with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized architectural projects; specification development or preparation; and maintaining accurate and current project documentation. The intern will work with our talented in-house architectural design teams throughout various stages of the design process. Working in a professional setting will provide the intern real-world practice that will enhance their educational experience as well as prepare them for a career upon graduation.

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with ability to multi-task

  • Excellent hand sketching ability

  • Resourceful, creative, self-motivated individual, able to work independently or within a team

  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-Up and Photoshop

Required Experience

  • Candidates must be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree in Architecture or closely related major, having completed a minimum of 3 years of undergraduate design school or 1 year of graduate design school by the time of employment

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
