Job Description
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
Basic Qualifications
Associate's Degree and 6 years of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associate's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
This position requires extensive field experience leading the repair, assembly, test, and operation of Aircraft Launch and Recovery (ALRE) and deck machinery equipment on Nimitz class aircraft carriers. Proficiency with the development of written work instructions is necessary. The ability to apply the requirements of applicable military and/or commercial specifications is essential. Experience supporting the implementation of new processes and tools is desirable. This is a leadership position that involves mentoring and knowledge transfer within the engineering team, and regular interface with external and internal customers.
