Job Description
The Propulsion Plant Planning Yard (PPPY) for the FORD class, is a design agent for the government. We ensure that the products and equipment that we design, procure, qualify and provide are innovative, technically correct, meet all specification requirements, support cost reduction objectives, are of the highest quality, and support our downstream customer's schedule needs.
Researches, develops, designs, and tests camera network used to improve equipment monitoring and personnel and equipment safety. This is a leadership role, candidate is expected to mentor other engineers, coordinate efforts with vendors, and brief management in regards to the status of work. This is a writing intensive position that requires candidate to be proficient with project management. Computer network experience is required. Candidate must be able to perform ship checks as needed.
Basic Qualifications
9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Preferred Qualifications
The candidate will lead the maintenance and development effort associated with a camera surveillance system. The applicant should have project management skills, be detail oriented, a competent technical writer, possess excellent communication skills, and works well in a collaborative work environment.
