JMT's Hunt Valley, MD office is seeking an experienced Transportation Structural Engineer Project Manager to be responsible for all aspects of project management for transportation structures projects. This senior level position is responsible for managing a wide range of project sizes and complexity involving a broad range of engineering disciplines. As a condition of employment, hire will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Proof of vaccination will need to be submitted as part of the interview/hiring process.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage all aspects of bridge design and rehabilitation projects

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet project schedules and maintain quality standards

  • Maintain project scopes and budgets

  • Preparation of contract bid documents and managing construction phase services

  • Coordination of sub consultants

  • Converse with clients and establish relationships

  • Create contract and task proposals

  • Presentation skills

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Ability to manage multi-disciplined engineering and construction projects of varying levels of complexity, scope, and fiscal implications

  • Knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete for structure components

  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, team-oriented environment

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Required Experience

  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering from a 4-year accredited university

  • 15 years of relevant experience in structural design

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland

  • 10 years of experience managing project engineers and drafting personnel

  • Formal Project Management Training

  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design

  • Experience working with Maryland Department of Transportation

    Preferred Experience

  • MS in Civil Engineering

  • Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Maryland

  • 15 years of experience managing project engineers and drafting personnel

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
