As part of the Cengage Group Talent team and reporting to the Director, Talent Development, the Onboarding Manager will build and deliver our Cengage-wide new hire orientation and onboarding program. Additionally, this role will partner with colleagues around the business to create and deliver functional and business-unit specific onboarding plans. + Collaborate with internal partners, key collaborators and Talent team members to develop, design, implement and evaluate Cengage-wide and functional-specific onboarding. + Ensure a smooth transition from the Cengage-wide onboarding experience to functional or business-unit onboarding. Collaborate with functional onboarding partners to create a consistent onboarding experience across Cengage Group + Develop work plan and timeline with key dependencies, deliverables, and milestones for all elements of the onboarding program; ensure results and expectations are met + Establish and maintain a centralized hub for onboarding documentation, templates, tools, and standard methodologies for adaptation and customization by individual functions and business units + Manage relationships with key partners and across the business, including those who specifically assist with the employee onboarding process (e.g., IT) + Align closely and frequently with Talent Acquisition team to ensure shared vision and flawless handoff between the recruiting and onboarding processes; partner closely with department-aligned onboarding partners and embedded onboarding partners across Cengage + Monitor new hire reports and develops strong working relationship with Talent Acquisition team to appropriately prepare for new employee onboarding + Establish goals for program success and appropriate metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of global onboarding programming + Drive continuous process improvement to enhance the new hire/employee experiences. Monitor key performance indicators and ongoing feedback assessments to ensure the program is effective and efficient in real-time. Works closely with and solicits feedback from internal partners + Initiate and/or propose improvements related within and outside of this job scope + Facilitates onboarding sessions and workshops with new hires and conducts train-the-trainer sessions with senior leaders + Provide additional support to the Talent Development team as needed Qualifications + Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained + Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to influence and communicate at all levels of the organization + Self-motivation and accountability to take initiative and capitalize on opportunities in a changing environment + Passion for the growth and development of others + Flexibility, customer-service orientation, and a passion for providing a positive new hire experience at every stage of the process + An acute eye for detail and an excellent ability to multitask + Strong presentation and public speaking skills; ability to facilitate engaging and interactive new hire onboarding and orientation session + A minimum of five years of experience in HR, Talent Acquisition, or Employee Experience + Experience developing and deploying a variety of development content and the ability to demonstrate its impact/effectiveness + Experience creating and reporting metrics to assess effectiveness and drive improvements + Familiarity with/awareness of principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion + Experience navigating and deploying automation through Workday preferred + Ability to use data to understand overall program impact and to help identify potential issues + Global project management experience preferred Other This role can be performed fully remote from any location in the US, with some travel required for in-person delivery as needed.
