Cracker Barrel is seeking a Retail Accounting Manager to join the Home Office to ensure all inventory and cost of sales accounting efforts are complete and reconciled. This partner will ensure monthly financial reporting is completed, and assists in the development of analytical reports that provide timely and relevant information to Senior Management to promote greater efficiencies and margin cost recovery.
Owns development of the monthly retail financial close packet, which includes presentation to senior-level management.
Prepares and delivers clear and concise reports for monthly and quarterly financial information related to inventory positions, cost of sales, and gross margin from retail segments. Assists the Director in continued report enhancement.
Ensures the general ledger is reconciled both timely and completely, reconciling cost of sales accounts and investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Participates in margin analysis; works with Director to develop projection tools that use actual and forecasted information to forecast gross margin and ending inventory positions. Assists in forecasting obsolescence exposure.
Assists in review and enhancement of operational procedures by identifying financial impacts and/or restrictions. Ensures general ledger is properly updated to reflect intent of operational procedure.
Supervises a staff accountant. Ensures proper training and evaluates performance.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Cross functional collaboration with Sr Director of Planning to understand variance in sales, fluctuations in retail cost of goods, and slow-moving items for potential obsolete inventory reserve
Partnership with Retail FP&A to assist in the planning & projection process
Responsible for effective management and development of the retail accountant
Subject matter expert of the retail accounting method and landed freight process

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Retail inventory accounting experience preferred but not required.
