Application Developer - Integrations

Work locations(s): Georgia Power Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta, GA or The Energy Center in Birmingham, AL

This position is responsible for the support and development of the Integration and Extension products within the Enabling Technology COE. Responsibilities of the position include all aspects of application development, production support for standard and custom components, solution delivery of new enhancements and bug fixes, and configuration responsibilities. It also includes developing and maintaining standards that ensure the team can build and support high quality and robust solutions This position must also build and maintain strong relationships with other IT departments as well as with portfolio and business partners, peers, staff, and vendors.

The successful candidate will focus on support and development of integrations between various systems within our footprint. This will include real-time integrations, batch, and other patterns. The candidate will need to deal with topics like guaranteed messaging, message persistence, complex field mapping, transactional behavior, polling, complex data transformations and derivations, complex orchestrations, message aggregation, response caching, and more.

The successful candidate will not only have strong analytical skills but also be able to successfully work within a high-paced diverse team that serves a variety of business value streams across Accounting, Finance and HR.

This position will be based in Atlanta, GA / Birmingham, AL

Job Experience & Education :

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/MIS/Engineering or related degree preferred

  • 3 to 10 years of designing and building software solutions

  • Strong experience with application development and delivery (preferably with Accounting/Financial and/or HR Technology but not necessarily)

  • Strong understanding of system and application integration and extension methodologies, patterns, and best practices (preferably with tools like Oracle Integration Cloud, Oracle SOA, Oracle BI Publisher, Biztalk, SSIS, Apigee and other related platforms)

  • Experience with Oracle databases and PL/SQL preferred but not required

  • Experience working with API based interactions between complex systems (experience with API Gateways preferred, such as the Google Apigee product)

  • Experience with application security topics relevant to the Integrations/Extensions space (such as oAuth and file encryption)

  • Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies utilized by modern Development Teams (Agile, CI/CD, GIT, branching, code quality scans, etc.)

  • Experience with Enterprise logging implementations (preferably with Splunk but not necessarily)

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, competitive information technology organization, spanning various disciplines including applications, infrastructure, and business support roles
