Position Description
Serco is looking for a Marine Tradesmen-Entry Level team member to join a high-profile and challenging project supporting the US Navy. The Marine Tradesmen-Entry Level will be on a dynamic team, supporting our C5ISR system installations. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our Sailors.
You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver high technology performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations.
In this role, you will:
Perform general manual labor including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving supplies and materials including standing fire watch and install electric cable when needed.
Responsible for fabrication and assembly of various electromechanical and electronic assemblies.
May perform duties as a fire watch and pull cables.
Work under immediate supervision while relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a safe work environment.
Uses basic power tools to include grinders and drills and paint small areas as needed
Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and shipboard furniture, electric equipment, and other types of machinery and equipment.
Sweeps and cleans up behind technicians.
Work onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation and the like and with equipment where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, muscle strains, serious injury, or death.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will:
Have a High School Diploma OR Equivalent, willing to work second or third shifts, and more than 40 hours work weeks as needed.
Pass a background investigation, drug screening and able to gain access to various Naval facilities and shipyards. This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens.
Work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position. Attention to safety critical.
Be willing to travel to various work sites such as Virginia Beach VA, Bremerton WA, Everett WA, Pearl Harbor HI, Mayport FL, and Yokosuka Japan.
This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens, be able to obtain gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
