Primary Objective:

Oversees the multi-state payroll accounting function. Ensures compliance with Company policy, SOX guidelines and all federal, state, and foreign payroll tax reporting requirements. Ensures the payroll processing schedules are met. Safeguards the security of all payroll related data and records. Prepares payroll accounting, including the journal entries and reconciliations.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  1. Leads and plans work processes and procedures for Payroll to ensure accurate, timely and efficient processing and payment of multi-state payroll and related deposits under Company benefit plans. Ensures compliance with Company policies, along with federal and state regulations.

- Ensures the execution of the North American payroll in a timely manner in accordance with Company policy.

- Audits and analyzes payroll results using judgment to detect errors and/or anomalies and determine appropriate resolution.

- Manages employee payroll master data, including the determination of appropriate classification and accounting of employee earnings as well as the determination of appropriate tax jurisdictions and sufficient documentation/authorization for deductions per federal and state law.

- Ensures the execution of all Canadian payroll related procedures including input, output, and taxes, as well as working with the ITW division service provider.

- Manages time reporting data including review and analysis of on-line time sheet submissions and correction of errors to ensure accurate labor distribution.

- Maintains and safeguards all Payroll records ensuring strict confidentiality and in accordance with Company policy.

  1. Manages general accounting procedures for all Payroll based transactions, including the analysis and reconciliation of payroll and tax data.

  2. Communicates and interacts effectively with Company personnel to convey Payroll policy and procedure requirements. Communicates effectively with other departments to coordinate work efforts and resolve problems. Acts as the primary liaison with HR on payroll related matters.

  3. Leads the Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and serve as process owner for payroll ensuring all requirements are met and compliance is maintained.

  4. Ability to troubleshoot and create process improvements.

  5. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Associates Degree

Experience: Five years of relevant experience in Payroll administration

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting-related field

Experience:

- CPP certification preferred.

- Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and prioritize projects and job accountabilities.

- Highly organized, self-motivated and attention to detail.

- Ability to respond to inquiries from internal and external customers and maintain effective working relationships with company personnel and with persons outside the company.

- Proficient computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word and integrated computer applications for HR and Payroll. Knowledge of SAP and Dayforce preferred.

- Strong written and oral communication skills.
