The Opportunity

The Opportunity:

P& C IT is seeking a dedicated Scrum Master Senior- Release Train Engineer who will serve on the Portfolio Operations team. While assignments may change over time, this role is in the Auto Modernization space. This effort is operating differently than a standard SAFe large solution which will require candidates to be adaptable. This person would primarily be responsible for coordinating development of multiple integrating partners.

This position is a hybrid work type based out of San Antonio, TX. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds - collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.

Scrum Masters Senior are responsible for ensuring teams and programs live Agile values and principles and follows processes and practices that the teams agree they will use within Agile (i.e. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.) frameworks to self-organize while delivering value to customers. The Scrum Master is a servant leader and champions the Agile mindset through effective guidance, coaching, education and through removal of impediments to team progress. This role is responsible for building high-performing teams focused on constantly improving team dynamics and performance. Scrum Masters at the Senior level demonstrate a deeper understanding of Agile delivery, product knowledge and the ability to influence multiple teams and practices.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART

  • Work with stakeholders to ensure strategy and execution alignment

  • Be a servant leader and coach to agile teams, scrum masters, and program level business & IT leaders

  • Manage key Program Level meetings and routines (e.g. PIP, demos, syncs, etc.) sending meeting minutes with actions within 24 hours

  • Summarize and publish Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives for executive level consumption.

  • Continuously monitor and communicate PI progress

  • Manage risks and dependencies

  • Ensures adherence to regulatory controls at program level

  • Proactively addresses and/or escalate agile team impediments within 48 hours

  • Build and track milestones and roadmaps for ART agile maturity

  • Assist Product Manager with milestones and roadmaps for the ART

  • Accountable for updating TIA for accuracy of team roles, where appropriate

  • Accountable for keeping Clarity/JIRA/Rally hygiene and accurate reflection of work effort status

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 6 years of directly related experience in process improvement, project management, software engineer, or business/requirements analysis with at least 4 years as a Scrum Master, Release Train Engineer, or has development experience working in a similar role in a lean or Scrum environment.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with multiple Agile delivery frameworks (e.g., Kanban, Scrum, XP, Lean, SAFe, DevOps).

  • Knowledge of compliance and risk management frameworks, including experience to identify and mitigate risks.

  • One or more Agile certification(s) such as: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), Agile Certified Professional (ACP), or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), or SAFe Agilist (SA).

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

What sets you apart:

  • SAFe RTE Certification

  • 2+ years of experience as an RTE

  • 3+ years of proven leadership skills involving oversight of 3P offshore development

  • Experience in the P&C domain

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $95,250 - $182,030 .

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
