The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Staff Auditor based out of our National Center office located in Dallas, TX!

This position will work in a hybrid setting (in office 3 to 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

This individual will be responsible for performing assigned internal audits (e.g., operational, financial, IT general controls, compliance, fraud, management special requests/projects, consulting engagements, etc.). Responsible for planning, testing, executing, and completing the reviews to evaluate controls and meet audit objectives including producing written reports of results and recommendations. Responsible for collaborating across team and various disciplines/functional area including regular interaction with AHA management. Responsible for assessing risk, developing audit work programs, conducting audit, and documenting procedures in accordance with professional standards.

Essential Job Duties

  • Plans and performs internal audits across the organization (e.g., operational, financial, IT general controls, compliance, fraud, management special requests/projects, consulting engagements, etc.), through development, testing, execution and reporting to evaluate controls, meet audit objectives, and produce final written reports.

  • Develops flowcharts and conducts audit test procedures that address high risks/controls and documents in accordance with professional audit standards and AHA Internal Audit procedures.

  • Develops and uses data analytic tools and computer assisted audit techniques to increase testing coverage and focus on anomalies.

  • Clearly communicates audit approach, project status, and findings to auditees in a professional manner in written reports and in-person presentations. Tracks and monitors implementation of action plans and monitors remediation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related area

  • Two (2) years of experience in accounting, audit, and/or project management related to internal controls

  • Ability to learn and use data analytic software for analysis such as ACL (Galvanize)

  • Knowledge of information technology general controls

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, detail oriented

  • Proficient in related computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, Teams)

  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, independently, efficiently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of Big Four audit experience a plus (e.g., KPMG, Ernst Young, Price Waterhouse, excluding Deloitte)
