This is a key position within the Diagraph Marking & Coding division, which will manage and coordinate the division's health, environmental and safety functions in accordance with corporate policies and procedures to meet company's business requirements. The Health and Safety Manager will work with all departments across the division to ensure all health, safety and environmental requirements and needs are being met.
Coordinates, plans and performs duties in the improvement, control and compliance of environmental, health and safety programs.
Implements and administers established environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, and practices to meet requirements supporting short and long-term business needs.
Ensures connection between environmental, health and safety functions and supervises their joint work to assure compliance with organization and government environmental, health and safety standards.
Reviews new products, equipment, and processes for potential hazards and recommends modifications before introduction.
Collaborates with employees and managers to identify and correct potential environmental, safety and health hazards.
Conducts safety trainings and maintains those records for the division.
Conducts safety audits at all locations across the division.
Participate in safety and environmental violation investigations.
Inspect and monitor safety and environmental programs in order to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures.
Point person for all regulatory board inquiries including site audits and visits.
Maintains focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and makes process improvement recommendations to management.
Education: Bachelor's of Science Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering or a related field
Experience/Skills:
5+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient in OSHA, DOT, IATA, and ISO 2000 standards, and pertinent state regulations.
Knowledgeable in Electricity, electronics, mechanical and pneumatic systems
Strong knowledge of environmental rules and regulations including NFPA, EPA, and IMDG standards.
Knowledgeable in the use of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs and disposal methods.
Industrial Hygiene training
Organizational, teamwork, problem solving and management/leadership skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Proficient in the knowledge and use of MS Office
