Position summary: Responsible for collection of field data, and operation of specific instruments for field traffic data collection. Sponsorship is not available for this position. As a condition of employment, hire will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Proof of vaccination will need to be submitted as part of the interview/hiring process.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Sets up, adjusts, and operates data collection equipment and GPS equipment, to collect traffic data.
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment, including electronic data collectors, keep an inventory of needed supplies and maintenance of field vehicle.
Record accurate and clear field notes as needed and be able to photograph locations.
Document assignments
Ability to access job sites throughout the State
Able to work occasional evenings and weekends

High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of related experience is preferred but not essential
Out of Town Travel may be involved but not on a regular basis
Qualifications Preferred
Familiarity with MDOT SHA procedures preferred but not essential
Experience with traffic counting equipment
Worked with Microsoft Office including Excel
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field 85% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. as needed. Work shall be conducted outside in heat/cold, humid, and dry/arid conditions.
Work is performed within a general office environment 15% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
