KBR is looking for a Mirror Fabrication and Processing High School Internship NASA's Goddard Corporate Park (GCP) in Lanham, MD.
The candidate will support the X-ray Astrophysics Laboratory (Code 662) in the development of novel spaceborne x-ray optics along with associated spacecraft requirements to guide formulation of future missions.
Specific activities include the development of x-ray focusing mirror elements and mounting/alignment structures, assemblies, techniques, equipment, and facilities to enable future x-ray astrophysics missions. The effort will be oriented toward providing concept development and associated research of materials and techniques along with proposed engineering designs including structural, thermal and performance analysis. Also, help out in the development of fabrication and assembly techniques of proposed engineering models, including design and testing of machines, fixtures, mechanisms, etc. for the mirror fabrication and multi-mirror module assembly structures and processes.
