Description: The Director, Legislative Affairs position is a part of Lockheed Martin Government Affairs' (LMGA) Aeronautics Legislative Affairs team, which is responsible for lobbying Congress on all programmatic and policy issues relevant to Lockheed Martin's Aeronautics business area. Key programs that fall within the team's portfolio include the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, C-130J Super Hercules, F-22 Raptor, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and various Advanced Development Programs (Skunk Works) efforts.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Executing comprehensive government relations strategies intended to influence legislation, regulations, and policy decisions that impact the Aeronautics business area.
- Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key Members of Congress, congressional committees, and their staff to ensure the Aeronautics business area's voice is heard on relevant issues.
- Monitoring and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments, identifying potential opportunities, threats, or risks, and recommending appropriate actions to senior leaders.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including business leaders, subject matter experts, and other government relations professionals, to execute coordinated and effective advocacy campaigns.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of the Aeronautics business area, its products, services, and technology, to effectively communicate the company's value proposition and differentiators to policymakers.
- Coordinate and lead visits by Members of Congress and staff to Lockheed Martin facilities across the United States.
- Adhering to all relevant Lockheed Martin policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as applicable laws and regulations governing lobbying activities

Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience working directly for Congress or in a similar Executive Branch or defense industry legislative affairs role.
- Established relationships with key congressional stakeholders, committees, and staff, with a proven track record of successfully advancing policy objectives.
- Ability to research and analyze the DoD budget, annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and annual Department of Defense Appropriations Act.
- In-depth understanding of procurement processes, including federal acquisition regulations and defense acquisition systems, to navigate the legislative and regulatory landscape
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear and concise messages.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Ability to obtain a secret clearance
- Ability to travel approx. 20%.

- Unwavering commitment to maintaining credibility and accuracy in all aspects of information sharing and representing Lockheed Martin's programs and policy positions.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with colleagues and external partners in a bi-partisan manner, fostering a cohesive and effective team dynamic.
- Goal-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic, who consistently delivers high-quality results and is willing to adapt to evolving priorities and challenges.
- Familiarity with lobbying regulations, disclosure requirements, and compliance procedures is a plus.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
