Specific Job Description:
Performs a variety of duties necessary for the successful operation and ramp-up of the supplier surveillance process. Will require collaboration and coordination with customers and other internal functions, including engineering, supply chain procurement, quality assurance, and manufacturing trades. This oversight will include interfacing with suppliers in order to: oversee/review/monitor manufacturing and NDT processes at supplier facilities; perform related studies to help insure that engineering and procurement specifications are met; initiate/validate supplier corrective/preventive actions to drive resolution of problems discovered during supplier surveillances/assessments; and help train/develop suppliers. Technical writing and customer relations skills are essential. Must be able to obtain DoD security clearance. In addition, working experience in a manufacturing environment is desired, preferably including quality engineering, such as NDT, inspection, auditing, statistical analysis, quality assurance and quality control. Prior experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role is a plus. Project management/leadership experience is desired. Lean and Six Sigma training/certification is desired.
General Template Job Description:
Plans, organizes, directs and reports on all supplier quality-related activities such as raw materials, packaging materials, good manufacturing practices (GMP) service providers, as well as contract manufacturers, and/or contract manufacturing and laboratories to assure fulfillment of contract/purchase order requirements. Translates engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements. Assures that customer quality-imposed technical requirements are adhered to by supplier and that a quality system is maintained. Conducts programs designed to improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation. Prepares, maintains and reviews procurement quality assurance procedures to assure compliance with customer and/or government requirements. Reviews and analyzes corrective action reports and purchase orders in an effort to reduce and eliminate defects. Monitors quality control activities and systems at supplier and subcontractor facilities, and maintains feedback loops. May administer a certified supplier program or related programs in receiving inspection. May also audit third party manufacturers, due diligence and vendor selection process. May perform deviation investigations into quality issues.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree and 3 years of experience. Masters Degree and 1 year of experience. 4 years of related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelors degree. 8 years of non-related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelors degree. A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelors Degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Bachelors degree.
