JMT's Albany Construction Management Team is seeking an Inspector III to apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing Highway and Bridge Construction activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
May serve as Senior Inspector or Office Engineer
Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance and adherence to safety regulations.
Perform routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials
Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and specifications
Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
Assign, schedule and supervise subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project
Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
Prepare, gather and maintain record documents
Make field notes and computations
Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries

Required SkillsRequired Experience
High School Diploma
8-10 years of Construction Inspection Experience
NICET Level III, EIT or equivalent NYSDOT or NYSTA experience
Client requested certifications (ACI or NICET concrete, asphalt, earthwork, etc.)
Strong Computer proficiency including Sitemanager and/or Appia
Active driver's license
Preferred Experience
AAS or BS in Civil Engineering, Civil Technology or Construction Technology
Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations
Ability to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge role
OSHA 10 hour
Work Zone Competent Person
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
