Job Description
Applies human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human-machine systems and products. Develops and implements research methodologies and statistical analysis plans to test and evaluate developmental prototypes used in new products and processes, such as cockpit designs, user workstations, and computerized human models. Interfaces with design engineers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements and to ensure optimized human-machine interfaces. Identifies and analyzes technological problems or risks, performs theoretical human factors investigations, and develops and implements research and analysis plans. We are currently searching for a Human Factors Engineer to help lead our user experience efforts. Candidate will function as a human factors engineer for the Digital Capabilities Lab and will perform in a team setting. Candidate will be working with rapidly advancing technology and must be willing to learn, adapt, and change. Teams will be pioneering the use of technology in new ways to show production value.
Candidate must enjoy innovating and creating novel solutions to complex problems. Candidate must be able to relate to colleagues across design and engineering functions, while providing strong influence within the team.
Responsibilities:
- Work within multi-disciplinary agile teams to develop solutions using human factors principles and methods to contribute human factors expertise to the development process.
- Analyze user workflows, goals, tasks, and experiences to identify user needs.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative user research. Interpret research findings and communicate actionable insights to the design and development team through journey maps, reports, wireframes, and storyboards.
- Create and execute all components of usability studies.
- Work with consumers and designers to evaluate concepts and existing products for improvement opportunities.
The position requires the ability to obtain and retain specific security clearances.
Basic Qualifications
2 Years with Bachelor of Science degree in related field; 0 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's Degree
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications Passion, creativity, teamwork, leadership and ability necessary to solve challenging user and technical problems.
Experience interpreting research findings, and communicating actionable insights back to the design and development team through journey maps, reports, wireframes, storyboards and interactive prototypes
Experience conducting usability studies.
Experience in research design as it relates to product development.
Experience conducting user research as a part of an agile development team.
Ability to balance theoretical tools and practical experimentation to develop concepts and ideas
Experienced in both qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies and understanding the limitations of each
Experienced in designing and conducting usability studies, contextual inquiries, surveys, and ethnographic observation.
Developed set of communication skills - presentation, written, and interpersonal. Will frequently interface with team members and must be able to lead with clear communication. May occasionally need to articulate complex concepts, needs, findings, and ideas.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, wireframing tools, and image/video editing
The position require the ability to obtain and retain specific security clearances.
