JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisor IT, Technology Business Associates position within Gas Technology Solutions will have overall responsibility for leading Technology Business Associates delivering technical solutions to Customer Service software applications utilized by Southern Company Gas. The Supervisor will be responsible for management and oversight of the day-to-day activities of the Technology Business Associates. This includes oversight of the successful liaison between the business units (internal and external), Application Development, Quality Assurance, Operations Excellence, and Project Management partners. This position will participate and contribute to strategic planning to align business priorities with technology projects, synthesize strategic planning goals and articulate them to the internal team to ensure deliverables are met. The position will provide direction on the development of business requirements to ensure successful project outcomes. Assign, prioritize, and monitor projects and tasks assigned to the team for execution. Participate in the design, validation, and testing of applications, reports, and system integrations/support.
Supervisor - Essential Duties Include
Ensure resources are on-hand and effectively utilized; maintaining the ability to 'flex' to meet customer demands
Coordinate work assignments between direct reports and other groups within Gas Technology Solutions
Take a leadership role in ensuring employee goals are in alignment with Technology Organization goals and strategies
Supervision of the day-to-day activities and work guidance for direct reports
Performance management for the direct reports, including performance appraisals, mentoring, coaching, and providing technical leadership to less experienced staff
Lead, motivate and develop employees; effectively plan and manage projects; apply strong oral and written communication skills; apply strong customer service and negotiating skills; exhibit initiative, and follow through with customer commitments; and apply sound performance techniques
Considerable interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively is essential
Develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive work plans, work prioritization, and delivery on project commitments
Contribute strategic thinking related to how direct reports contribute to and support the Gas Technology Organization
Lead a team of Business System Analysts and Technology Planning Analyst to design, develop and deploy solutions for the Operation Services organizations
Partner with business stakeholders to build a long-term strategy and roadmap for Operation Services business systems that support evolvement and transformation of the Operation Services operations
Manage systems implementations from large projects to regular production releases
Partner with stakeholders for planning and prioritization
Collaborate across the organization, build connections / relationships and foster ownership
Provide leadership, mentorship and development through regular connected conversations and check-ins with direct reports; hire and on-board new talent
Skills/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field or work experience.
A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Operation Services applications
Ability to handle multiple assignments and conflicting priorities
Ability to work with business partners and peers of varying levels of technical proficiency
Interest in and passion for learning and working in a fast-paced environment
Experience with all size projects, enhancement projects and production support
Ability to identify root cause as well as mitigation required while working with other technical staff and business partners
Experience creating and refining Requirements Documents and Test Plans
Comprehensive, recognized leadership skills that build relationships and develop a team atmosphere
Knowledge of business system analyst processes, methodology, and tools
Experience with Agile delivery; Kanban; Scrum
