Job Summary

Responsible for assisting in managing development and acquisition of power generation projects utilizing renewable, fossil, and nuclear fuel resources, for development and negotiation of new leases and land energy options and for evaluating new energy technologies for deployment. The Business Development Manager is a supportive role that participates and leads project development and acquisition activities. Responsibilities include supporting or leading development and acquisition activities such as site evaluation and selection, financial evaluation, environmental and local permitting, fuel and water procurement, evaluation of electrical interconnection, and leading and managing Requests for Proposals for the acquisition of projects for the development of power generation assets.Additional functions include supporting and pursuing growth strategies and opportunities, leading evaluation, analysis and due diligence activities, and participating in negotiations for prospective generation asset acquisition and development opportunities.

The Business Development Manager is a key participant in negotiations of project contracts and agreements, pro forma financial modeling and analysis, preparation of regulatory filings, executive level communications, preparation of governance materials and public presentations. The role involves leading internal teams from multiple disciplines and departments including construction, operations, external affairs, public policy, corporate communications, legal, tax, accounting, environmental, risk management, fuels, treasury, public/investor relations and financial analysis.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required (financial analysis, project management, account management, contract negotiations, project development, or other like).

Knowledge of electric power development and production business and energy markets generally acquired through related work experience.

Strong financial analysis skills, including ability to review and make investment recommendations based on pro forma financial statement inputs and results.

Experience in commercial contract negotiations, acquisition and divestiture activities, and development of large generation facilities is preferred.

Strong leadership and communication abilities (oral/written/presentation/interpersonal) to drive results in a team environment under minimal direction with internal and external customers. Ability to analyze information and make strategic business decisions.

Strong organizational, risk analysis, and project planning/execution skills are also required. Must be able to effectively prioritize multiple key project efforts.

Demonstrated computer skills including all MS Office applications.
