Title: (NEX NORFOLK) SALES TECHNICIAN - APPLIANCES HIRING INCENTIVE Location: United States-Virginia-Norfolk Other Locations: United States-Virginia-Norfolk Job Number: 220000JF Job Summary: Provides exceptional customer service and demonstrates advanced product and brand knowledge of home appliance to patrons purchasing appliances and other related products and accessories. Utilizes knowledge and skills to engage customers and build quality relationships that result in increased sales and repeat business. Duties and Responsibilities: - Position authorized at NOB, Norfolk Main Exchange only. - Demonstrate initiative in providing product/brand features relative to home appliances such as: automatic washing/drying machines, refrigerators, ranges/ovens, microwaves (counter top and over the range), dishwashers and air conditioners. - Stays abreast of Energy Star Program, and applicable line of products designed as Energy Star qualified. - Drives multiple-unit sales by practicing suggestive and persuasive selling skills by recommending appliances and additional complimentary items. - Demonstrates advanced knowledge specific to appliance brands and standards regarding manufacturer's warranty, and uses this knowledge to build sales and enhance the level of customer service provided. - Follows special department operating procedures and properly executes all systems and POS procedures to ensure a quick transaction. - Provide information about appliances purchased by customer to minimize number of returns. - Provides guidance and assistance to customers in display room by answering questions and explaining the appliance specific features and benefits. - Understands and maintains department standards with regards to merchandise display presentations, inventory control guidelines, and stock areas. - Uses persuasive and influential sales skills to affect the purchasing desires of customers by recommending alternative appliances to customers and explains the purpose and benefit of such. - Strives to achieve and maintain, at minimum, a "Meets Expectations" sales/productivity level. - Maintains a genuinely friendly, enthusiastic and professional attitude towards internal and external customers of the Navy Exchange. - Calls other stores to locate appliances requested by the customer. - Maintains familiarity with specific appliance brand information by means of vendor tags and pamphlets, vendor visits, product knowledge tools and department. - Stays abreast of all markdowns, special promotions, clearance and advertised merchandise as well as back stock. - Assists customers in securing delivery services with designated contracted company. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Must be onboard by February 26, 2022 $300 Sign-On Incentive to be paid after 30 and 120 days of employment Any applicant who was actively employed by the Navy Exchange Service Command within 12 months of their pending hire date will not be eligible for a Sign-On incentive. Failure to disclose prior employment at the Navy Exchange could result in revocation of offer to hire. Full terms and conditions available upon request Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE - One year of responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE - 18 months progressively responsible experience in retail sales performing the kind of duties which constitute the principal work of the position to be filled and possesses technical knowledge of home appliances including but not limited to washers dryers microwaves electric ranges etc. as it relates to features and functionality quality similarities and differences. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE - Study completed in a college university junior college technical school or other comparable institution above the high school level may be substituted on the basis of onehalf academic year of study for 6 months of experience provided such subjects relating to retail management andor sales. At any level specialized experience may be substituted for required general experience.
