ARMY PBL: Aerospace Turbine Engineer

This role is with KBR's Army PBL group providing Depot planning and execution of maintenance and logistics services in support of the Army's AGT1500 Engine for the Abrams Tank at Anniston Army Depot. Services provided include Material/Inventory Management, Parts Kitting, Warehousing; Repair & Overhaul Technical Support, Quality/Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), Lean Process Improvement; SAP forecasting and ordering conversion; Program Management and OPSEC.

As an Aerospace Turbine Engineer, you will:

  • Work in a fast paced, high-tech environment, balancing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

  • Provide technical support for areas of KBR responsibility within the overhaul operations conducted at the Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) on the AGT1500 turbine engine.

  • Interact with other engineering disciplines (both at ANAD and Honeywell-Phoenix), management, suppliers, and customers.

  • Perform assignments requiring the use and application of standard engineering or scientific methods and tools, and application of technical, problem solving, and other key KBR engineering and project leadership skills.

  • Lead a small engineering team in daily tasks and ensure the team meets the program deliverables and schedules.

  • Write technical documentation and specification.

  • Document results and conclusions and incorporate findings into formal specifications and instructions.

  • Prepare and deliver detailed technical presentations to program leadership.

  • Participate in establishing operating procedures or best-known methods.

  • Provide technical consultation to others and contribute to technical project teams.

  • Lead and/or support root cause investigations.

  • Interface effectively with the Honeywell-Phoenix Engineering team and U.S. Government personnel.

  • Work -hands on- in a shop environment on engines and components.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access and/or security clearance.

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering discipline from an ABET University.

  • 7 years of aerospace engineering experience with turbine engine background.

  • Experience with troubleshooting aerospace operating and production systems, such as lube pumps, fuel controls, component test stands, and turbine engine test cells.

  • Experience with instrumentation and controls relating aerospace test facilities and turbine engine controls evaluation.

Must understand:

  • Machining processes and component quality measurement.

  • Data acquisition systems and data reduction to document performance results of engines and systems.

  • System modeling with engineering modeling software tools.

  • Hydromechanical control systems.

  • Digital Electronic Engine Controls (DEEC).

  • Instrumentation and controls relating aerospace test facilities and turbine engine controls evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Engineering experience, including leading less experienced engineers, helping grow teams, coordinating new business with customers, assisting in aligning manpower resources to accomplish key objectives, and reporting status to technical leads and project managers.

  • Experience working on Honeywell AGT1500 gas turbine engine.

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access).
