Job Description

Applied Materials AGS Automation Products Group is hiring an application engineer to support product development, customer deployment, and services for Applied SmartFactory and SmartFactory Rx automation products and solutions in the areas of manufacturing execution, factory performance, equipment performance, and advanced process control. Additionally, candidate will drive continuous improvement, help improve knowledge base management, and seek opportunities to build organizational efficiencies using technology, AI, machine learning, automation, and optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide MES/CIM implementation support to customers

  • Consult customer regarding CIM/MES products and modeling to meet manufacturing requirements

  • Organize meetings concerning all phases of project lifecycle (requirement collection, specification, development and testing, delivery and sign-off).

  • Determine solutions for customer requirements through the application of CIM/MES. This includes analyzing and understanding customer manufacturing issues and requirements, understanding the customer environment, and documenting its processes and procedures, mapping the processes and procedures on CIM/MES components and interfacing with software engineers on CIM/MES application functionality and operation. It also includes determining the requirements for functionality required beyond the standard product offering.

  • Coordinate customers internal teams to deploy and optimize CIM/MES solutions to achieve factory KPIs

  • Coordinate with systems administration and IT teams on developing and deploying CIM/MES solutions.

  • Present technical information to customers including technical contributors and managers.

  • Create and implement software training and/or demonstrations

  • Project management tasks including documenting and tracking issues

  • Participate in documentation and product reviews

  • Keep current on new technologies and new products by attending classes, seminars, conferences, and/or presentations.

  • Knowledge base contribution/management

  • Respond to customer requests for proposal (RFP)

  • Develop and deliver statements of work (SOW)

  • Improve operations through continuous improvement standards such as: 8D, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5-Whys.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in semiconductor manufacturing

  • Experience with factory automation applications

  • Familiar with SEMI standards

  • Project management skills with ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

  • Experience explaining technical concepts to Sr. management and managing diverse requirements among multiple stakeholders.

  • Software expertise familiarity working with enterprise automation software running on Windows or Unix platforms with Oracle database

  • Working knowledge of databases and use of SQL.

  • Working proficiency using programming and scripting languages such as R, Python, C++, C#

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in IT/IS related field or MBA with information systems background

  • Experience in factory operations

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in configuring an MES/CIM system in a production semiconductor, LCD, LED & Solar environment.

  • Preferred to have knowledge of manufacturing systems as FACTORYworks, FAB300, Promis, & SiView or other MES product.
