Duties : Lead and manage a team of highly talented engineers with direct responsibility to deliver complex features for Telco Cloud Platform. Provide architectural and technical guidance, facilitate collaboration and communication within and between teams across the organization. Lead the team to deliver software releases on time and with good quality. Lead complex technical design discussions across various stakeholders. Implement Agile, quality first, product development processes that shorten release cycles and improve quality and time to market. Align team activities and business objectives that focus on virtual cloud, 5G Platform. Continuously work with the team to ensure effective processes, prioritization, and timely scoping. Work closely and engage with VMware executives and direct reports to establish an environment that is motivating and entrepreneurial in nature. Work closely with Product Management to obtain prompt resolution to key business issues likely to impact product release schedules, product requirements, product quality, and business operations.
Requirements : Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or a related technical/quantitative field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or related position. In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or a related technical/quantitative field and nine (9) years of experience in job offered or related position.
Employer requires at least six (6) of the following skills gained through industry experience:
Java, Python, C, and MongoDB;
Software Architecture and Design, Data structures;
Cloud native software development and Kubernetes;
Virtualization and Network Function Virtualization (NFV), including knowledge of ETSI NFV standards;
Engineering management, release management, and people management;
Network Slicing and Software defined networking;
5G network service orchestration and management;
Lifecycle automation of 5G RAN and Core networks.
*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from this VMware office in Palo Alto, CA. Multiple Openings. Travel required 10% of the time within the U.S.
