The supervisor of the Mechanical/Civil Discipline within Vogtle 3&4 Site Design will lead a group of individuals responsible for initiating, supporting and directing design activities associated with Vogtle 1&2 and Vogtle 3&4 interface projects as well as developing Vogtle 3&4 system and program expertise. As the Vogtle 3&4 project transitions to operations, the group will promote equipment reliability, standardization, long term asset preservation and incorporation of best practices into design products and evaluations. The supervisor reports to the Site Design Manager.
Group Responsibilities:
Developing and reviewing construction project activities for potential impacts to Vogtle 1&2 operation, as well as design and licensing bases.
Reviewing and supporting Vogtle 3&4 design and construction activities.
Developing, reviewing and providing implementation support for design changes involving Civil/Mechanical discipline. Also supporting and providing oversight of design studies and design changes contracted to outside engineering firms (A/Es).
Ensures technical adequacy of products.
Interfacing with Stress, Seismic, Fire Protection, and Environmental Qualification groups in Engineering Programs as well as Projects personnel and other design disciplines for assigned design changes.
Working with the Projects and contracted engineering firms and the site's Plant Health Committee to prioritize and schedule design changes.
Developing specifications and interfacing with vendors for major equipment required to support design modifications, or supporting this work contracted to outside firms.
Updating design calculations and other documents to reflect changes for assigned designs.
Providing project management support when required on major plant modifications.
Facilitating design review meetings for assigned design changes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provide daily direction and coordination of design, system, and program activities within area of responsibility.
Ensure technical adequacy and procedural compliance of products.
Ensure personnel are technically competent and qualified to perform assigned tasks.
Review of design modifications performed by outside organizations.
Provide oversight of design studies and design changes contracted to outside engineering firms (A/Es).
Education
Background/Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of commercial nuclear power plant design or operation experience is preferred.
Knowledge of commercial nuclear power plant regulations, codes, and standards related to digital systems, software control, and cyber security is strongly desired.
Design experience preferred
Two years supervisory experience preferred which may include both full time and/or temporary assignments to support special projects or outages

Solid foundation in nuclear plant design bases
Solid foundation in design processes and configuration control processes
