Analyst, Distribution Integrity (DIMP)

Description

The Distribution Integrity Analyst is a focused discipline within a job family. The duties listed are activities associated with the various levels of the analyst progression. This progression covers the following general titles:

  • Analyst I, Distribution Integrity

  • Analyst II, Distribution Integrity

  • Sr. Analyst, Distribution Integrity

This position provides technical and analytical support for the Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP). Tasks include:

  • Performs analysis of distribution pipeline data to determine threats and risks inherent to pipeline operations and assists in developing mitigation plans to reduce those risks.

  • Utilizes a variety of systems including, but not limited to SQL, Power BI, GIS, Risk Modeling Tools and other analytical software.

  • Performs advanced SQL queries to obtain data from various systems across the Company and uses that data to create meaningful information and reports to identify trends, patterns, or anomalies.

  • Effectively maintains large volumes of data to demonstrate compliance.

    Analyst I, Distribution Integrity

    Functional Expertise:

  • Ability to design, build, and implement spatial and statistical analyses.

  • Designs and delivers analytic services for the Distribution Integrity Management Program.

  • Designs and delivers analytic services in support of Codes and Standards, Engineering and other various departments.

Business Acumen:

  • Provides asset data analysis and presentation services for the enterprise. Includes thematic mapping, specialized analysis, and specialized data services to enterprise clients.

Engagement:

  • Forge collaborative relationships with Engineering, Operations, and Information Technology departments.

  • Develop standard analytic processes for assessing gas and other asset performance (leak trending, material performance, replacement program effectiveness, thematic mapping services and specialized data services).

  • Develop support processes to enable efficient client request processing.

Driving Results:

  • Monitor and report progress of plan initiatives and strategies.

Analyst II, Distribution Integrity

Functional Expertise:

  • Ability to design, build, and implement complex spatial and statistical analyses.

  • Ability to consolidate information from disparate systems.

  • Designs and delivers analytic services for the Distribution Integrity Management Program.

  • Designs and delivers analytic services in support of Codes and Standards, Engineering and other various departments.

Business Acumen:

  • Presents analysis findings to senior management with a breakdown of the analysis process and recommended follow up actions.

  • Ability to understand a variety of different processes from departments across the organization

  • Understanding of the facilities and functions of the natural gas distribution system

  • Support the development of a comprehensive asset data management strategy and systems integration strategy for enterprise asset data.

Engagement:

  • Forge collaborative relationships with Engineering, Operations, and Information Technology departments.

  • Provide support to help develop mitigation strategies for operational risk.Develop standard analytic processes for assessing gas and other asset performance (leak trending, material performance, replacement program effectiveness, thematic mapping services and specialized data services).

  • Communicate analysis design and results to key stakeholders.

Driving Results:

  • Develop, document, and deliver on workplace objectives.

  • Create supplemental training aids to improve work order quality.

  • Monitor and report progress of plan initiatives and strategies.

  • Implement improved business processes or applications.

Sr. Analyst, Distribution Integrity

Functional Expertise:

  • Ability to design, build, and implement complex spatial and statistical analyses.

  • Ability to consolidate information from disparate systems.

  • Designs and delivers analytic services for the Distribution Integrity Management Program.

  • Designs and delivers analytic services in support of Codes and Standards, Transmission

  • Integrity Management Program, Engineering and other various departments.

  • Researches and promotes new technologies and understand their applications for increased analysis.

B usiness Acumen:

  • Presents analysis findings to senior management with a breakdown of the analysis process and recommended follow up actions.

  • Ability to understand a variety of different processes from departments across the organization

  • Understanding of the facilities and functions of the natural gas distribution system

  • Present at industry presentations

  • Support the development of a comprehensive asset data management strategy and systems integration strategy for enterprise asset data

Engagement:

  • Forge collaborative relationships with Engineering, Operations, and Information Technology departments.

  • Proactively identifies issues across a variety of disciplines.

  • Recommends mitigation strategies for operational risk.

  • Develop standard analytic processes for assessing gas and other asset performance (leak trending, material performance, replacement program effectiveness, thematic mapping services and specialized data services).

  • Develop support processes to enable efficient client request processing.

  • Communicate analysis design and results to key stakeholders.

  • Be a key stakeholder of new technology implementations

Driving Results:

  • Develop, document, and deliver on personal and workplace objectives

  • Create supplemental training aids to improve work order quality

  • Delivers on SLA's, metrics, project budget, deliverables and implementation schedules for department around projects and assigned tasks

  • Monitor and report progress of plan initiatives and strategies.

  • Implement improved business processes or applications.

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, geography, GIS, or related fieldOr

  • relevant educational and work experience

Related Work Experience:

Required (Analyst I):

  • 2 years' experience with the following:

  • Data, analytic & problem-solving skills

  • Experience in SQL

Required (Analyst II):

  • 5 years experience with the following:

  • Data, analytic & problem-solving skills

  • Experience in SQL, Power BI and GIS

  • Presentation of analysis results

  • Developing collaborative relationships across many disciplines

Required (Sr. Analyst):

  • 7 years' experience with the following:

  • Data, analytic & problem-solving skills

  • Advanced Experience in SQL, Power BI and GIS

  • Advanced level presentation of analysis results

  • Provide leadership qualities to the department

Preferred:

  • Experience with SQL, Power BI and GIS within a gas utility, pipeline transmission, or other energy related field to identify and reduce risks and assure compliance.

  • Ability to explain and defend processes, analyses, and reports to various stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting the development of applications related to asset data, asset performance, compliance assurance, operational efficiency and/or risk modeling.

  • Experience in statistical modeling and analysis

  • Experience in analytical consulting & presentations

  • PHMSA regulation knowledge and experience including 49 CFR Part 192/193/195

  • Exposure to engineering integrity programs or other engineering failure analyses.

    Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Keyboarding = Frequent (75-100%)

  • Travel = Infrequent (0-5%)
