As a dedicated Design Producer Senior within a highly regulated industry, you will apply advanced knowledge and experience in human-centered design to lead high-performing teams through the design lifecycle, orchestrating the work of cross-functional teams to facilitate the design vision for moderately complex to complex Member and Employee experiences in a human-centered, data-informed, agile environment. You'll also lead continuous organizational improvement and facilitate operational excellence in the planning, execution, and delivery of programs and multi-track project intended to accomplish strategic business goals and objectives.

INFLUENCE. The right individual for this role is an influencer with a proven track record of affecting positive change for their teams and organizations through championing the human centered design practice and process, and bringing clarity and transparency to the team's backlog and prioritization.

COACHING. Contributing indisputable expertise in the domain of project management best practices, this person will be instrumental in coaching a team of designers to mature the practice of their craft by developing next-level operational efficiency.

OPERATIONS. In terms of design process, team and project structure, organization, and accountability, the producer will fortify and build-upon the scaffolding currently in place to create an environment that enables team members to focus on each of their own areas of expertise, and collectively deliver our best work.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Serves as primary point of contact for partners and stakeholders to define the business and design requirements for moderately complex to complex projects.

  • Evaluates, plans, and organizes work and resources for the execution of design solutions from concept to production release, accountable for meeting quality targets and achieving program and project milestones within established timeframes and budget.

  • Oversees team meetings, rituals, and activities to keep project efforts on track and creates communications that provide insight on progress against key project deliverables, milestones, and metrics.

  • Monitors projects for issues or documented risk and oversees risk management by using established project management processes that address execution challenges associated with quality, schedule and costs.

  • Facilitates the removal of obstacles and impediments to the design team and facilitates the resolution of design issues through an understanding of business and design objectives.

  • Facilitates the alignment of stakeholders across projects, teams, and functions by identifying and responding to stakeholder needs and guides approvals with cross-functional partners and stakeholders.

  • Manages design research efforts and contributes to the creation of design solutions by generating ideas and creating design artifacts informed by advanced knowledge in human-centered design process and methodologies.

  • Oversees multiple design solutions through appropriate quality and compliance controls and check points and contributes to the development or continuous improvement of design processes, procedures, standards and guidelines to optimize organizational performance in the delivery of business value to members and employees.

  • Serves as a mentor to peers and oversees the efforts of team members.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 6 years of experience with business analysis or project and program management in a relevant design field, such as User Experience, User Interface Design, Digital Product Design, or Web Design.

  • Advanced facilitation, negotiation and consensus building skills.

  • Advanced communication skills experienced in presenting to Senior and Executive leaders.

  • Demonstrated experience with Agile frameworks and methodologies such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Scrum, and Kanban.

  • Advanced experience with Program and/or Project Management methods and tools.

  • Driven projects forward and mitigated risk within a heavily regulated industry (banking, real estate, debt collection, etc).

  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of Human Centered Design principles - both the framework and methods - describing how you use them in your day-to-day as a producer.

  • Navigated complexities to strengthen the relationship between a design team and its stakeholders, including business owners (the client) and development teams.

  • Created new systems or identified successful methods enabling a team to become more operationally efficient.

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $104,660 - $199.970 .

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
