Ferguson is now seeking an Area Industrial Engineer (IE) to join our team! This multi-site role drives the improvement process efforts to improve productivity and lower operating cost within distribution centers in a specified region. The Area IE will work with local distribution center management and data analysts to ensure effective implementation of the labor management program. This person will lead the standardization of our processes and will frequently lead multi-functional, operational, and engineering teams in the network.

Please Note: This position can be physically located in Orlando, FL or Albany, NY however the role covers operations in those locations as well as Alabama, Florida and New York. Travel up to 50-75% is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Train, develop and direct the support team at each of the DCs.

  • Develop standards for new operations.

  • Supervise the accuracy of the installed standards on a continuous basis; ensure locations conduct follow-up studies to verify standards.

  • Work with the DCs to identify improvements in methods, procedures, equipment, or workflow which increase output or quality.

  • Coordinate the collection of data to update the current standards to reflect any changes to an operation.

  • Ensure meetings are held with supervisors and employees to present changes in procedures, equipment, and/or standards and documents are updated.

  • Ensure updates are made to the Labor Management System based on changes to existing standards or the introduction of new standards.

  • Ensure the DC teams maintain the complete records of all-time studies or other data used to change standards or establish the best method.

  • Lead process standardization and improvements -inside the four walls- of the distribution centers to ensure the success of meeting objectives.

  • Strive for the continuous improvement of the Region's labor management systems and Engineered standards program.

  • Work with the Local DC management in the discovery of inefficiencies in day to day operations and challenges while drawing support for change across all the DC's in the Region.

  • Lead the solution development, cost-benefit analysis, and implementation of distribution improvement opportunities.

  • Support business development by assisting in developing solutions to support the pursuit of new business through providing operational expertise and systems knowledge.

  • Research and maintain knowledge of emerging industry practice.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, operations analysis, logistics, supply chain, or related field from an accredited institution is required.

  • Minimum 6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination education and experience as an industrial engineer, operations/business analyst, or consultant.

  • Experience using MOST to develop Engineered Standards required, knowledge of Labor Pro is a plus.

  • Proven skills in the management of projects and multi-functional teams.

  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

  • Distribution center or fulfillment experience required, Operations experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) required, preferably Highjump.

  • Understanding of warehouse design, material handling equipment, and storage media technologies, pick methodology, work measurement, labor management, slotting, and warehouse services (i.e., kitting and customer labeling).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to break a problem or opportunity down into subcomponents; identify root causes and drivers; use creative thinking skills in developing alternative solutions.

  • Strong communication skills; develop and articulate (written and verbal) data/process analysis, and alternative solutions. Ability to lead others to a consensus and inspire change. Capable of collecting, assimilating, and validating relevant business/operating information.

  • Thrives in a team environment and displays a customer service approach while seeking continuous improvement in serving internal and external customers.

  • Knowledge of velocity, inventory, and cube analysis.

  • Continued focus on improvement mentality and experience with Lean/Six Sigma tools to help improve supply chain efficiencies.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence with a strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Pay Range $5,750.00 - $7,667.00 Monthly; Bonus Eligible
