We seek a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Summer 2024 in Huntsville, Alabama.
After orientation and training, interns will perform entry-level engineering tasks on rocket propulsion projects. Interns will support senior engineering staff and gain experience and familiarization with company projects. Interns must be able to operate effectively in a team environment.
Summer internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.

Essential Functions
100% - Under close supervision, this internship may include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
Support in creating work instructions for assembly of hardware.
Help develop, test, and implement small manufacturing processes involved with assembly of hardware.
Work to transfer existing instructions into an upgraded format.
Assist in monitoring process control.
Work on improvement projects to increase the efficiency of fabricating hardware.
Help design and fabricate tooling.
Work with test lab to assist in testing of hardware.
Create necessary databases to drive consistency of data collection across product lines.
Creation of reports and memos to document activities completed.
Requirements
Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering (or similar major) and returning to school upon completion of the assignment.
Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
3.2 GPA or above
Junior standing or above
Solid academic track record of accomplishment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Software applications
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Self-starter with the ability to work with little direction
Leadership & teamwork skills

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
