Position Description
Serco Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Technical Writer to join our Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) team supporting Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC). This position supports a broad portfolio of Autonomous Maritime System (AMS) programs in the San Diego, CA/NIWC PAC geographic region onboard a fast-growing local team
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain your active SECRET Clearance.
As a Technical Writer you will support Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV)Will be required to get underway on sea going vessels to support testing of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV) and various other unmanned systems. operations alongside NIWC-PAC customers and team using their experiences to work requirements and the operational fulfilment of new sensors, payloads, software, and hardware on a USV project during various life-cycle stages including prototyping, and RDT&E. Reports to a Program Manager or head of a unit/department under limited to no supervision. This position will support onsite NIWC customer facilities in San Diego, CA.
In this role, you will:
Supports the T&E program and is responsible for the day-to-day test planning, execution and reporting of the system under test, including:
Development of test documentation
Execution of developmental test and reporting of test results
Supporting the lead test engineer to ensure that program test objectives are met and test recources are provided
Will be required to get underway on sea going vessels to support testing of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV) and various other unmanned systems.
Will be responsible for coordinating the display of graphics and the production of the document.
Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
Researches and translates technical information into manuals, monthly reports, statements of work (SOW), sole source justifications, and technical evaluations.
May document engineering processes and specifications.
Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements. Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
May perform a variety of tasks as assigned
Qualifications
To be sucessfull in the role, you will have:
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Business Administration and 5 years experience as a Technical Writer for S&T and /or experience projects.
1 year expereince technical writing for unmanned martime systems
You must be able to maintain an active Secret clearance. ( A current active cleaance is required to be considere d.)
Proficiency with MS Office is required
Proficiency with Adobe is required
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written skills in English
Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask
Ability to deliver high quality documentation, paying attention to detail
