Manager, Procurement & Materials
A Material Manager provides the Project Procurement Manager (PPM) a single point of contact for all activities related to the requisitioning of equipment and bulk materials and is responsible for defining and executing the processes related to Material Requirements Planning on a given project. This includes ensuring that the information systems are configured and loaded in a manner that supports construction activities in the field. This role is the liaison between Engineering/Design, Procurement, Inspection, Shop Fabrication and Construction Management.
Under general direction, is accountable for the performance and results of a related discipline or sub-group within a function. Uses specialized knowledge or skills to solve complex and unique problems, or direct the daily activities of a project material control team. Establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks. Uses judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. May direct resources, prioritize tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members. Relies upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy. Manages the delivery of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to team members. Participates in the development of functional strategy and may be responsible for global processes and procedures. Skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree and 20+ years of experience.
Activities & Responsibilities related to this position include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of contractual requirements with client.
Comprehends and reacts to Integrated Project Schedule relative to Material Management activities.
Assist in preparing a project-specific execution plan for Procurement & Materials.
Assist in forecasting workforce requirements for the Material Management group.
Develop a Material Responsibility Matrix (MRM) for the project.
Maintain status reports for overall Procurement Status (PSR)
Ensures engineering defined material requirements are maintained in the Integrated Project Management System (IPMS).
Provide supervision and guidance to assist with the development of less-experienced employees.
Provide input and oversight to ensure consistent project numbering schemes are established and adhered to.
Coordinate material related activities with Fabrication Shops to include:
Project Reporting Requirements
Enforcing KBR Bar Coding / RFID labelling requirements
Uploading Pipe Spools & Structural Steel piece-marks and status into IPMS to enable Site Material Control visibility and a record for receipt.
Ensures adequate quantities of permanent materials are requisitioned at the proper time to support construction schedule
Ensures tagged equipment suppliers comply with "Ship Loose" requirements and data is maintained in IPMS.
Ensures IPMS is populated during the Engineering and Purchase phases to allow seamless execution of Field Material Control activities in support of Construction activities.
Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
Requires an undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
20+ years of experience related to Capital Project Piping design, installation and Material Management.
Candidate must have EPC Capital Project experience. Prefer a candidate with both Home Office and Field experience.
Candidate must have excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint
Experience with Integrated Project Management System (IPMS) is required.
Candidate must have ERP Financial systems experience (SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle).
Prefer a candidate familiar with Piping Specifications / Material Classes. Prefer a candidate with Piping Design background.
Prefer a candidate who can perform Material Takeoffs (MTO's) from Engineering Deliverables (ISO's & P&ID's).
