Job Description
This benchmark is intended to be used by companies that have generic classifications engaged in research and/or product development encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical.
Responsibilities:
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
Review Engineering Reports (ERs) and Work Deferrals (WDRs) to evaluate impact to SUBSAFE Design Review (SSDR).
Generate reports and Engineering Review Diagrams (ERDs) to document all SSDR reportable items.
Perform peer reviews of SSDR deliverables.
Communicate SSDR issues with Design Yard, SUPSHIP and NAVSEA.
Basic Qualifications
5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical knowledge of VCS systems and SUBSAFE program is a plus.
Technical knowledge of Tech Pub 1688 and Tech Pub 278 is a plus.
Experience with DDMS, Engineering Reports (ERs) and ATIS knowledge is a plus.
Submarine Engineering (Sub-E) experience is a plus.
Knowledge of the 3010 program and SSDR process is a plus.
The candidate should be an effective communicator.
