JMT is seeking a motivated Senior Project Manager who desires responsibilities in managing, marketing and designing a variety of transportation related projects and services. Based in the Lake Mary area, the successful candidate will be a technical leader in roadway engineering and required to engage in business development activities and transportation design. Established client relationships are a plus.
The successful candidate will be well-versed across the transportation engineering discipline with demonstrated planning, design, and project management experience in planning, analysis, and design. Successful candidates will be expected to effectively oversee and mentor staff and perform, coordinate and manage a variety of transportation related engineering projects or task assignments. Coordination with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies and project stakeholders is also expected.
A working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, and standards and processes is required. The candidate will be expected to manage multiple assignments, develop/coordinate/maintain project schedules; analyze and document critical design elements; coordinate with others to determine requirements and incorporate feedback.
Candidates must be capable of working on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Position summary: Responsible for delivering all project objectives for assigned projects including; scope, schedule and budget. Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with minimal supervision. Acts as a technical advisor/mentor to less experienced engineers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work as indicated above
Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines
Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
Monitor schedules, budgets, accounts receivable and manpower requirements and prepares invoices.
Develop Project Management plans for assigned projects
Establish project pricing and budgets
Create and maintain project schedules
Develop and maintain project specific quality plans
Develop and coordinate project scope
Manage sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
Attend meetings with clients
Participate in client presentations
Oversee and manage assigned staff working on project to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
Manage all technical resources on the project team
Coordinate and assist Section Heads, Office Managers, and Practice Leaders with marketing proposals
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
Required Skills
Understanding of design and plan preparation using Microstation and/or Civil 3D
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
Florida Professional Engineer License
10-15 years' experience in highway and interchange design including MOT.
Familiarity with the policies, publications, and practices of Florida Department of Transportation and municipal entities in the Central Florida area
Project management and business development experience
Experience with multiple project delivery methods (i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3) preferred
Experience managing multi-discipline project teams preferred
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
