We are looking for an engineer, physicist or applied mathematician with over 8+ years STEM experience to support satellite geodesy research, algorithm/software development, and operational mission support for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center missions. Candidate will be working in a fast paced, dynamic environment supporting both Ice, Cloud, and Land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) and Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) missions performing Precision Orbit Determination (POD) and laser altimeter instrument pointing/ranging bias calibration. Candidate should have in-depth knowledge of Global Positioning System (GPS) and Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) systems, including data processing required for use in orbit determination solutions. Candidate must be highly motivated and possess great time management skills to work simultaneously on multiple missions.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • MS in engineering, physics, mathematics or related STEM field

  • Experience with precise orbit determination for low Earth orbiting satellites

  • Experience with laser altimeter instrument pointing/ranging calibration

  • GNSS and SLR system data processing experience

  • MATLAB, Perl, UNIX Shell Scripting programming experience

  • Ability to communicate with customers and team members, both verbally and written

  • Ability to work independently and on small, fast-paced, highly motivated teams

  • Good judgment and relationship management

  • Ability to track detailed assignments and ensure timely delivery

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States of America

Education

  • Degree - preferably BS., Mechanical Engineering; MS., Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent in a related field.
