Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Sr. Manager, International Brand & Innovation will be responsible for building incremental and sustainable growth by unlocking innovation and managing product licensing opportunities that support the GNC International overall growth strategy. This position will need to analyze industry and local trends to develop a commercially feasible pipeline of innovation initiatives across the international portfolio working closely with the U.S. brand and innovation team, along with leading the go-to-market activities for GNC brand products in international markets. This position will project manage international franchise, distribution, and corporate local product licensing and assortment opportunities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all facets of initiating new international products across all brands and sublines, including the concept, implementation of business case, starting development, and working with cross-functional teams on messaging, product formulation, sales and training resources, marketing support, and other relevant areas as appropriate.
Lead collaboration with merchants of competitive and syndicated research, analysis, and presentation of opportunities of expanding US new products globally and international whitespace innovation to leadership for alignment
Create & present a multi-year pipeline that supports strategic and divisional business objectives; Pipeline will include a balance of breakthrough innovation, GNC assortment growth ideation, necessary active product changes, and solutions to product challenges; Design an efficient and effective cadence of external communication with franchise and distribution partners on these initiatives
Identify sizeable innovation platforms and channels that support new growth spaces for GNC worldwide; drive the front-end of innovation from whitespace opportunity to a financially and technically feasible commercial idea or concept that supports GNC International categories
Project manage international licensed partnership relationships, major product development milestones, and timelines from conception to production; liaise with internal and external stakeholders on necessary approvals
Own the GNC assortment strategy for international distribution and corporately managed partnerships
Work closely with domestic and international teams to ensure alignment with the overall global strategy; define and communicate modifications based on local market needs and act as the primary decision-maker on level of authorization(s) needed
Liaise with merchants, finance, product development, science, product design, regulatory, brand, and external partners to ensure launch objectives are met and/or change management is executed on product transitions
Act as consult to cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to drive and execute go-to-market strategy and deliverables for GNC brand items across relevant channels
Leverage leadership, storytelling, and strategic thinking skills to influence and inspire cross-functional partners
Responsible for managing the international consumer research budget; must collaborate with merchants and marketing teams on target KPIs and support spend within sample and marketing budget(s)
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, merchandising or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
Advanced degree (MBA, Master's) preferred
8+ years progressive product innovation, brand management, commercialization, merchandising, or strategy consulting experience required in a retail, CPG, pharmaceutical, or nutritional supplements industry
6+ years in a leadership role (direct or indirect) managing a team and/or external clients
3+ years of project management, PMP certification preferred
Must have International or industry experience
Must have experience owning KPIs and budget goals
Advanced analytical skills
Fluent in English, second language skills a plus
High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
Ability to work on different time zones as necessary; regular variation in work hours may occur
Travel required
