Job Description

Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Basic Qualifications

Associate's Degree and 3 years of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associate's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Ford Class MCMS Alarms Engineering Technician 3 is a demanding position requiring in-depth technical knowledge; a solid grasp of the requirements of MCMS affected alarms. The Ford Class MCMS Alarms Engineering Technician 3 must be able to effectively communicate with external customers including SUPSHIP, In Service Engineering Agencies (ISEAs), and Ships Force as well as coordinates with many different internal organizations to safely and successfully accomplish MCMS Alarm Systems testing on CVN Ford Class carriers. The Ford Class MCMS Alarms Engineering Technician 3 will drive and strive for first time quality and meet or beat schedule. The Ford Class MCMS Alarms Engineering Technician 3 is responsible for leading a team of technicians in test program planning, development of test procedures, coordinating, grooming/troubleshooting and testing. This individual must have strong understanding of technologies currently employed on CVNs in the Fleet. In addition, this individual will be responsible for the successful completion of MCMS Alarms testing, and supporting and Sea Trials. Candidate should have strong background in testing or knowledge of MCMS Alarms onboard Ford Class carriers. These systems include fire and flood detection, secure processing space, unmanned space, sensitive ordnance intrusion, intrusion, sulfur dioxide and miscellaneous common alarms. The candidate shall be capable of gathering data for presentations and then presenting this information to various audiences. Good verbal and written skills are required. Be able to represent the department on all matters in their Area of Responsibility. Need to be Test Director qualified or have the ability to be qualified within the first 3 months of position approval. Deck plate experience is preferred.
