ProMedica Bay Park Hospital caters to communities east of the Maumee River. Our campus includes a state-of-the-art community hospital with 91 private beds and a professional office building dedicated to doctors' offices and outpatient rehabilitation, as well as a treatment and diagnostic center. The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care provided to a group of patients. This nurse leads the nursing team members in the care as directed by the attending physician and in collaboration with other health care providers in accordance with the philosophy and policies of ProMedica Acute Care Hospitals. Registers/pre-registers patients to receive medical services in clinic, laboratory, inpatient, outpatient or emergency department. Obtains demographic information, validates insurance, and receives/post payments. Adheres to necessary regulatory requirements. Answers and/or refers questions received from patients, visitors, and staff to appropriate department. Performs various related clerical functions. Accountabilities/Performance Standards

  • Perform a variety of face-to-face registration, pre-registration, walk in outpatient scheduling, and collection functions for all patients including self-pay patients.

  • Utilize electronic insurance verification system to verify insurance benefits and determine copay and/or coinsurance for the patient's services; ask all eligible patients for copay and/or coinsurance to meet monthly Point of Service goals.

  • Contacts patients via phone for necessary information pertaining to registration, billing and financial responsibility via our pre-registration process.

  • Assists patients at time of service with general benefit and financial responsibility inquires and posts payments to patient accounts as appropriate.

  • Manages time effectively to perform complete registration questionnaires while meeting departmental productivity standards in compliance with system productivity policies. Uses time to complete other departmental duties when patients cannot be registered.

  • Maintains high attention to detail by reviewing all work for completeness and accuracy in compliance with system quality assurance policies. Completes registrations to meet department accuracy standards for error-free work as demonstrated on the monthly KPI (Key Performance Indicators).

  • Understand basic Registration processes and provide feedback to management on issues that impede timeliness or quality of Registration and work with management to resolve.

  • Independently review assigned reports/work queues to ensure goals and deadlines are met.

  • Maintains current knowledge of insurance requirements communicated by email, memorandum, educational matrices and in-services.

  • Seeks assistance from Financial Counselors when needed to maintain patient flow while resolving financial issues. Communicates effectively with service delivery areas when unresolved financial issues threaten appointment schedules.

  • Respects the rights and dignity of all patients. Provides and maintains patient privacy at all times. Is compliant with HIPAA guidelines and privacy practices, patient confidentiality and patient rights.

  • Escorts customer/employees to their requested location when possible. (Site Specific).

  • Immediately approaches a customer or employee who seems lost and offers assistance.

  • Takes ownership of a customer's problem. Ensures the matter is resolved in a timely manner if able or exculpate to the appropriate department.

  • Utilize electronic insurance verification system to verify insurance benefits and determine copay and/or coinsurance for the patient's services; ask all eligible patients for copay and/or coinsurance to meet monthly Point of Service goals.

  • Contacts patients via phone for necessary information pertaining to registration, billing and financial responsibility via our pre-registration process.

  • Assists patients at time of service with general benefit and financial responsibility inquires and posts payments to patient accounts as appropriate.

  • Manages time effectively to perform complete registration questionnaires while meeting departmental productivity standards in compliance with system productivity policies. Uses time to complete other departmental duties when patients cannot be registered.

  • Maintains high attention to detail by reviewing all work for completeness and accuracy in compliance with system quality assurance policies. Completes registrations to meet department accuracy standards for error-free work as demonstrated on the monthly KPI (Key Performance Indicators).

  • Understand basic Registration processes and provide feedback to management on issues that impede timeliness or quality of Registration and work with management to resolve.

  • Independently review assigned reports/work queues to ensure goals and deadlines are met.

  • Maintains current knowledge of insurance requirements communicated by email, memorandum, educational matrices and in-services.

  • Seeks assistance from Financial Counselors when needed to maintain patient flow while resolving financial issues. Communicates effectively with service delivery areas when unresolved financial issues threaten appointment schedules.

  • Respects the rights and dignity of all patients. Provides and maintains patient privacy at all times. Is compliant with HIPAA guidelines and privacy practices, patient confidentiality and patient rights.

Position Summary

The Respiratory Care Equipment Supply Coordinator will assume primary responsibility for maintaining respiratory care equipment in clean, working order. The individual must be committed to providing patients and families with a positive experience through compassionate care and excellent service, safely and efficiently. This individual will display professionalism at all times and maintain patient confidentiality.

Accountabilities

  • Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations, and perform with a high degree of mechanical aptitude and accuracy, with particular attention to detail. Must be able to input and retrieve computer information.

  • Performs cleaning, disinfection, decontamination, assembly, and pretesting of Respiratory Care Critical Care Mechanical Ventilators and other equipment in accordance with Department and Hospital policies and procedures. Delivers supplies and equipment to patient care areas, as needed.

  • Enters supply and equipment orders, as needed, to ensure proper par levels of Respiratory Care equipment, including gas cylinders, supplies, and miscellaneous department essentials. Reports any needs to department Leadership.

  • Maintains the cleanliness and organization of all non-patient care areas in the Respiratory Care equipment and supply spaces.

  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives, as needed, and collaborates with other disciplines to enhance patient and employee safety.

  • Actively participates in the orientation of new staff and contributes to the growth of others, as needed.

  • Understands and acts in accordance with all Respiratory Care and Hospitals policies and procedures for those areas of responsibility and is able to independently function in those areas.

  • Performs other related duties, as assigned or requested by Leadership within the scope of training and practice.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent

  • Skills:

  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Be able to communicate and interact effectively and collaboratively with a variety of professionals, including physicians, nurses, care navigators and administrators, to promote a seamless patient care continuum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills: Mechanical aptitude

  • Years of Experience: Health care related experience

  • Certification: BLS

POSITION SUMMARY

Functioning as a team member within a patient centric care delivery model for high quality and service within the practice setting. Able to proficiently and effectively navigate through multiple information technology platforms and applications. Renders direct patient care services under supervision demonstrating ProMedica's values to the patient.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Reports for scheduled shifts on time and in a professional manner with regard to behavior, telephone courtesy, dress, identification, and communication with patients' colleagues, and outside agencies.

  2. Works closely with the provider and leadership to continually improve the patient experience though daily patient care, clerical support, ongoing projects and assumes additional duties as needed in a self-directed manner.

  3. Prepares the patient for the visit by taking vital signs, documenting and order entry within the EPIC system, arranging and coordinating support and ancillary services for patient care, preparing patient rooms for visits, stocking exam rooms, preparing schedules, and providing general support to the providers and patients. Performs specific specialized tests (i.e. pulmonary function tests, phlebotomy procedures) as needed.

  4. Provides for a safe patient experience through adherence to clinical protocols, regulatory requirements, manufacturer standards and reports any potential equipment malfunctions or safety violations.

  5. May support a variety of clerical office functions including calls, documentation, scanning, etc.

  6. Within scope of Medical Assistant, demonstrates clinical knowledge and focuses on customer service to answer and triage patient telephone calls. Records complete and accurate messages and obtains necessary instructions from providers and nurses, etc. when appropriate.

  7. Supports internal and external customers, to maintain a superior customer experience across the continuum of care through teamwork. Communicates professionally with patients, providers, and co-workers at all times. Actively participates and is engaged in staff meetings.

  8. Collaborates with leadership and other staff to recommend changes to improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of patient care.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned that support ProMedica's core values.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Must be a high school graduate or its equivalent.

Skills:

- Able to promote a strong commitment towards achieving outstanding internal and external customer satisfaction and superior patient experience.

- Able to work independently, prioritize, problem solve and work cooperatively with faculty and staff.

Certification: BLS (CPR), must present a current BLS course card from the AHA at time of employment or obtain certification within 90 days of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of a recognized MA program at an accredited college or university.

Years of Experience: 1+ years experience in direct patient care preferred.

Certification: Applicable medical certification preferred (MA, EMT, STNA, etc...)

Job Description

Performs all aspects of sterile processing functions to support the needs of the hospital.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise

  1. Decontaminates, inspects, and maintains reusable instruments to prepare items for high temperature washing, pasteurization, and/or sterilization.

  2. Participates in cost containment initiates by monitoring trash and linen for instruments as well as identifying instrument in need of repair.

  3. Prepares designated reusable supplies, instruments, etc., in the proper quantity and layout to meet the requirements of physician and medical/surgical needs with minimal errors.

  4. Wraps designated supplies according to technical specifications to ensure sterility during handling and/or through its shelf life.

  5. Ensures processed items meet technical standards and sterilization through the use of control procedures in the sterilization process. Performs biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with quality assurance standards.

  6. Operates washers, sterilizers, low temperature sterilizer, cart washer, sonic, and pasteurizer following the manufacturers' operational procedures.

  7. Responds to patient care requests for delivery of processed supplies and instruments.

  8. Acts as a core preceptor in orientation of processing technicians. Utilized as a resource for basic sterilization/processing problems.

  9. Cleans and tests patient care equipment between each patient use. Completes Bio-Medical service request forms for any malfunctioning equipment.

  10. Documents productivity by recording functions completed on daily work sheets.

  11. Inspects linens for tears, stains, etc. Sends damaged for repair or disposal according to departmental procedures.

  12. Processes linen, such as, sorting, folding, counting, stacking, packing, according to departmental policy.

  13. Label instruments clearly and correctly following departmental policy and procedures.

  14. Performs other duties as directed.

Job Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Skills: Requires proficiency in technical procedures and to familiarity with a broad range of surgical instruments. Must be able to understand directions and be able to communicate and respond to inquiries. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from a computer. Must be able to differentiate colors, and operate sterilizer, washer-sterilizer, pasteurizer, computer, etc.

Certification: Certification as a Central Service Technician

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands: Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations. Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, cleaning chemicals, heat, and fumes. Must be able to frequently move, lift and/or carry light to very heavy weight materials and equipment.
