Job Summary

This position installs natural gas pipe in ditches, manually digs around various utilities, and pressure tests steel and plastic natural gas lines. Position is responsible for participating in the repair of third-party damage to natural gas lines and various types of gas leaks, completing pipe maintenance activities, safely driving a company vehicle, setting up common Department of Transportation approved work sites and effectively flagging traffic. Position also maintains the vehicle inventory and installs test charts.

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

- Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Pipe Layer VI (at least 12 months experience)

  • Pipe Layer V (at least 18 months experience)

- Basic computer and internet navigation skills are key.

- Availability for natural gas emergency response during the workday, as well as in the evenings and some weekends when on-call.

- Reside within a 45-minute response time from the geographical center of the Apex area.

- Good mechanical aptitude.

Position requires travel throughout the service territory with safe parking in a wide variety of situations and driving in construction zones.

Job Summary

This position provides technical support to engineering and pre-construction and is the entry level position within the GIS Technician job family. The incumbent will work with supervision and carries out assignments with some latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Provides gas facility and mapping information to operations and other departments. Acts as a liaison with operations and outside agencies. Coordinates with outside agencies on their design plans and provides gas facility and mapping information. Reviews third party development, property plats, and design plans for conflicts with the gas system. Enters land base information into the Geographic Information System (GIS) using land plats, survey data, and/or global positioning system data.

Additional responsibilities may include:

- Enter proposed main into the GIS mapping system.

- Prepare design drawings for main extensions and replacement projects.

- Gather and compile information and data for use in engineering and other tasks.

- Prepare simple right-of-way descriptions using property plats and survey data and prepare right-of-way exhibits

- Perform simple GIS spatial and data queries and analysis and creates reports from the GIS system

- Assist with corrections in the GIS mapping system.

- Maintain good record keeping of design drawings and GIS mapping

- Create new map data through digitization or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.

- Operate and maintain GIS system hardware, software, large format printer, color printer, and remote sensing devices.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

- Associates Degree

- High school diploma and 2+ years directly related experience; or

Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

- Directly Related Experience includes GIS Database or mapping systems, Drafting, Construction Inspection, or Survey.

- Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, time management, strong computer skills, math skills (including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry).

- Abilities: General ability to read civil and mechanical engineering design drawings, field notes, and surveys, quickly learn new technologies, address multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Must have valid driver's license and be able to drive

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelors or Associates Degree (Geography, GIS or closely related field) and 2+ years directly related experience; or

- Certificate of Proficiency in GIS from a training center, technical college, or university.

- Experience with creating and printing maps and drawings from GIS and/or CAD systems.

- Previous experience with ESRI ArcMap.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy's System Protection Engineering Standards department is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to help us build the grid of the future. The Protection & Communications Engineer is responsible for performing the engineering analysis and design of the Power Line Carrier (-PLC-) pilot communications systems used across Dominion Energy's electric transmission system. The engineer will select and specify the PLC equipment for all capital projects, support the System Protection Engineering Standards Team, and contribute to the development and implementation of new digital protection technologies like IEC 61850 and Ethernet-based Transfer Trip.

*There is one position, Engineer II or Engineer III, which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities*

The position will be filled as either an Engineer II or Engineer III based on experience. The Engineer II/Engineer III is fully competent to expert level in all conventional aspects of the subject matter. Second level position in the engineering series provides engineering support in designated company area, or specific engineering discipline. Engineer III is the top progression level position in the engineer series. Includes senior to technical expert engineers, able to perform difficult and complex work requiring thorough knowledge of the subject matter and significant experience within functional assignment area.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Selecting and coordinating all PLC signal frequencies, ensuring adequate margins are maintained to prevent interference between carrier signals employed by Dominion Energy and neighboring utilities/customers

  • Serving as a subject matter expert on the specification and application of PLC equipment, including transmitters/receivers, line tuners, wave traps, monitoring devices and schemes

  • Producing and maintaining all pilot communications systems drawings, including PLC one-lines and distributed generation transfer trip diagrams

  • Maintaining databases of all PLC frequencies, transmitters/receivers, and ongoing/upcoming projects

  • Developing communication equipment configuration settings for new and existing protection schemes

  • Providing expert technical assistance to various engineering teams, project management teams, and field technicians to fully develop and implement the protection and control design packages

  • Performing peer review of engineering design packages and reviewing as-built drawings from the field

  • Assisting in the development of protective relay settings for Dominion Energy's electric transmission lines, transmission substation assets, and distribution substation assets

  • Supporting the development of new standard protection schemes and the evaluation of new protective relay and protective communication equipment

  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of Dominion Energy's standard protection schemes, including drawings, documentation, descriptions, standard guidelines, and application notes

  • Providing technical support to the fault analysis team in the review of protection system operations

  • Participating on various company teams and industry-level organizations to enhance Electric Transmission's system protection performance

  • Participating in trade and industry organizations and benchmarking activities

The Generation Project Leader is differentiated from the Generation Project Manager by the size and scope of the portfolio. The Generation Project Leader will be responsible for managing smaller projects and supporting Generation Project Managers on larger projects.

Job Summary

A Generation Project Manager is needed to support the Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) - Major Project management team at Surry Power Station in Surry, VA.

Manages or supports specific phases of major projects including business development support, site development, permitting support (air, water, state, local, etc...), scope development, major contract negotiations (equipment, engineering or EPC), engineering, procurement, and construction contracts, construction activities, commissioning and transition to commercial operation. Manages all phases of smaller improvement projects including permitting, contract negotiations, engineering contracts, construction contracts, construction activities and commissioning. Supports development and management of specific portions of major projects budget and schedule. Develops and manages overall project budget and schedule for smaller projects. Projects ranging in size from major complex projects to smaller improvement projects in existing generating facilities. Major complex projects include digital instrumentation upgrades, incore Instrumentation upgrade, cable and piping replacements, Steam Generator replacement, Main Generator Replacement, various Heat Exchanger replacements, Pressurizer modifications, R-22 Refrigerant and NAOH Elimination, Reactor flow conversion, and reactor building cranes and fuel handling equipment upgrades. Typically reports to Supervisor of Project Management.

The Generation Project Manager is differentiated from the Generation Project Leader by the size and scope of the portfolio; the Generation Project Manager will be responsible for managing larger projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

- 7 years plus of industry experience in the field of construction, engineering, finance and/or management with a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in project management. Nuclear industry experience is highly preferred.

Provide training as needed for contractor resources to ensure consistency across the system. Assist with resolutions of any quality issues with contractors, third party customers, and/or supplies. Monitor work to ensure compliance with approved quality plans and procedures. Assist with providing leadership skills through training, mentoring and supporting less experienced design personnel as well as interacting with other groups/departments. Assist with interpretation and communication of company policies and procedures to customers.   • Provide engineering support for all Distributed Energy Resources (DER) activities, including the following:

  • Commercial Solar

  • Net Metering

  • Battery Storage

  • Legacy Synchronization sites

  • New and future DER technologies as introduced

  • Will provide engineering support for complex Substation and Distribution switching, including the following:

  • Planned and emergency load moves

Job Summary

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

The Unmanned Systems Operator II and III focus on supporting routine and rapid response of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) inspections throughout the Dominion Energy operating footprint. Additional responsibilities will include consulting and data processing. This position is based out of Richmond, VA but will entail frequent travel across the Dominion Energy footprint (CT, MD, VA, WV, NC, SC, GA, OH, IN, UT, ID, WY, CA).

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Operate with a safety mindset at all times;

  • Develop flight plans, check NOTAMS, check weather and coordinate airspace integration with any affected controlling agencies or privately-owned properties;

  • Conduct pre-mission briefs and complete safety risk assessments prior to flight as well as after-action reviews upon post-flight;

  • Responsible for company vehicle and high dollar unmanned systems;

  • Maintain strict compliance with all FAA Part 107 sUAS rules and regulations;

  • Execute UAS operations in accordance with Dominion Energy procedures;

  • Solve complex problems and provide a new perspective on existing solutions;

  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience;

  • Collaborate with coworkers, partners and clients on projects;

  • Serve as the face of the company on the ground, providing superior customer service;

  • 14 CFR Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate;

  • Demonstrated skill in utilizing sUAS-related post-processing software to include GIS software;

  • Possessing a thorough understanding of the capabilities, limitations and sensor payloads of the applicable Unmanned Aircraft Systems;

  • Ability to manipulate precise instrumentation with coordination;

5+ years of relevant experience;

Job Summary

Corrosion Technician

This role performs tests, repairs and maintenance related to pipeline corrosion. Inspects and tests facilities and equipment to identify existing and potential corrosion problems. Recommends course of action to eliminate or retard corrosion activity. Installs and inspects cathodic protection equipment. Repairs, replaces and services corrosion equipment components. Identifies outside currents negatively affecting company operations and initiates corrective steps. Performs leak and odorant tests. Monitors advancements related to corrosion technology, practices, techniques and regulations. Maintains interactive work relationship with Specialists and Engineers to accurately and effectively complete job responsibilities. Directs and supports contractors to complete evaluations and reports and to develop mitigation measures to effectively address deficiencies in the cathodic protection systems. This is the intermediate level of the job series.

Sr. Corrosion Technician

Schedules, organizes, coordinates, and dispatch work assignments for system-wide field operations daily. Receives and schedules emergency calls. Coordinates and schedules department's activities with customer requests for line locations and excavation projects. Receives and processes city clearances for meter work. Job Summary

Job Summary

Dominion Energy is seeking summer 2022 Graduate Interns to be a part of the Data Integration team within Electric Transmission. The candidates will be part of a team that provides technical support for Dominion Energy Electric Transmission SCADA systems, PI Data Historian, and Data Modeling and Analytics. Candidates should have a strong electrical engineering background and possess strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices; preferably in electric power systems. This internship will rely heavily on working with and developing software to help automate the maintenance of our data and/or to perform and present the analytics and modeling. Therefore, candidates should poses working knowledge of software development principles as well as solid competency in the Python, C#, and/or JavaScript programming languages. The candidate should also show strong Data Literacy. Experience with time series databases, in particular the PI System is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Familiarity with core software development principles and Object Oriented Design

  • Familiarity with version control tools (Git, Team Foundation Server)

  • Familiarity working with databases and writing SQL

  • Experience developing software to analyze and/or model the power system or its various assets

Education Requirements

  • Must be entering Senior year of a Bachelor degree in Computer Science or be accepted to and working on a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from an ABET accredited Computer Science program at a four year or post-graduate college or university.
