Job Summary

This position fills an important role in Electric Transmission - System Operations, with the following responsibilities:

  • Perform, review and analyze highly detailed reliability, power flow and stability studies on the Electric Transmission (ET) System.

  • Use expert engineering knowledge and principles to schedule, coordinate, and/or devise new approaches and/or alternatives for complex equipment outages on the ET System while not jeopardizing system reliability.

  • Provide engineering support, expertise and leadership to fellow team members.

  • Provide professional interface between System Operations Planning and Engineering and both upstream and downstream customers.

  • Provide support to the System Operator(s) for issues related to real time system operations as needed.

  • Devise new approaches, automation, solutions to problems encountered and ensure compliance with design criteria and standards.

  • The position will effectively interface with the System Operator, Project Management, ET Construction and Operations, PJM's outage schedulers, Generation Operators, Electric Cooperatives, Interconnected Companies, the Regional Operating Centers and other entities as seek fit.

  • Position is required to obtain PJM Transmission Operator Certification and attain a working knowledge of PJM policies and procedures. Position is encouraged to obtain a NERC RC Certification.

  • Once trained, this position will be placed on a modified rotating shift.

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

*Relocation assistance can be offered to the successful eligible candidate.

**This position qualifies for a 10% Annual Bonus for maintaining PJM Transmission Operator and NERC Reliability Coordinator Certifications in conjunction with Satisfactory Performance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences required for entry into this job include the following:

  • 3+ years engineering experience in electric transmission and/or power generation (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications)

  • Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles.

  • Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.

  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead.

  • Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).

  • Strong personal computer skills.

  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.

  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.

  • In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.)

  • Equally effective working independently or in team environment.

  • Proven decision making skills.

  • Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.

  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills

  • Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (above/below).

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a postgraduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Depending on functional responsibilities and location of position must review ANS 3.1 12/79, ANSI N18.1-1971 or ANSI/ANS 3.1-1993 and DOM-QA-1 as appropriate.

Job Summary

This position will fill an important role in Electric Transmission - System Operations Planning, with responsibility for the following duties:

  • Perform, review and analyze detailed reliability, power flow and stability studies on the Electric Transmission (ET) System to minimize risk and maintain system Reliability

  • Provide professional interface on transmission line outage requests between System Operations Planning and Engineering for both upstream and downstream customers

  • Sequencing and coordinating long-term (planned) Electric Transmission (ET) equipment outages by undertaking a thorough review of requested outages to understand scope-of-work, clearances requested, switching required, and potential impact to the grid

  • For long-term planned outages, coordinating outage sequences with ET Project Managers; Coordinating and working with PJM on outage reliability sequencing and outage coordination

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining processes for transmission outage ticketing, both internally and externally

  • Provide engineering/technical support, expertise and leadership to fellow team members

  • The successful candidate will effectively interface with all stakeholders, such as the System Operator, ET Construction and Operations, PJM's outage schedulers, ET Project Managers, Generation Operators, Electric Cooperatives, Interconnected Companies, Key Account Managers as well as the Regional Operating Centers.

  • It is preferred that the position will achieve PJM Transmission System Operator certification. At a minimum the position will have or need to obtain a working knowledge of NERC and PJM policies and procedures

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences required for entry into this job include the following:

Engineer III: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience within electrical transmission, distribution and/or generating stations (prefer experience within an operations or system protection in electric transmission)

Engineering Technical Specialist III: 5+ years of relevant experience within electrical transmission, distribution and/or generating stations (prefer experience within an operations or system protection in electric transmission)

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications; A master's degree can count as one year experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities for Both Positions:

  • Good working knowledge of PJM or RTO policies and procedures

  • Good Knowledge of substation equipment/operations, relay operations, and power station operations

  • Good Knowledge of field construction, switching and equipment

  • Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles

  • Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines

  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead

  • Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)

  • Strong personal computer skills

  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems

Job Summary

There is one position available that will be filled at either the Engineer II or Engineer III level, commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

System Protection Automation and Analysis is a cross-functional team with a focus on system protection engineering analysis , data science, and software development for defining and launching technology and data solutions that drive innovation and create industry-leading capabilities that advance the overall vision of Dominion Energy. The group provides 24 hour a day, 365 day a year support to our internal and external business customers.

The selected candidate will join the System Protection Automation and Analysis team within Power Delivery - Electric Transmission as an Engineer III and function primarily as a Protection Analysis Engineer while supporting system protection engineering, regulatory compliance within Electric Transmission and the various field services organizations(including transmission lines, substation crews, control technicians, and system operators).

The role includes responsibilities related to supporting the fault location systems used for monitoring, detecting, recording, analyzing, and archiving of generation, transmission, and distribution electrical fault events. The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing system protection operations and schemes to ensure the correct actions were taken by the scheme as designed and intended. The documentation and written distribution of event analysis will be a primary function of this role. The role may also include architecting, developing, and maintaining engineering tools and automation for streamlining business processes within engineering teams. A strong focus on end-user/customer engagement and support within Power Delivery is critical to successful execution of the job function.

  • Ability to be on call to respond after hours, holidays, and on weekends is a requirement of this role;

  • Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles;

  • Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines;

Nature of Work

Engineer II - Provides engineering support with a working knowledge of the subject matter and has some experience within natural gas transmission and distribution systems. Assists in design and engineering support, has coordination and leadership responsibilities and capable of performing most engineering calculations. Distinguished from Engineer I by increased complexity in application of engineering skills required. Under direction of supervisor or work leader, exercises independence in evaluating, selecting and applying standard or well- defined engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications.

Engineer III - Able to perform difficult and complex work requiring thorough knowledge of the subject matter and significant experience within natural gas transmission and distribution systems. Plans, directs, and supervises design of major projects (or parts of major projects) to meet design, cost, and time objectives. May be required to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to major projects that have significant impact on programs in varied areas and related fields. Able to prepare specifications, contracts, and work order requests as necessary. May provide project supervision and review as well as supervision of less experienced engineers or others.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university is preferred.

Job Summary

The senior-level Unmanned Systems Operator III focuses on supporting routine and rapid response of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) inspections throughout the Dominion Energy operating footprint. Additional responsibilities will include conducting sUAS training, consulting, and data processing. Dominion's Substation Engineering department is seeking a motivated Designer who will be responsible for supporting Engineers in the development of substation engineering physical design packages. This work is vital to support the Company's transmission and distribution growth plans and includes support of projects vary in size and complexity. *This job is in the Eastern Region Grid Planning Department located at 2700 Cromwell Drive, Norfolk, VA.

GENERAL: Entry or developmental level position providing engineering support in designated company area, or specific engineering discipline. Perform engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Under direction of supervisor or work leader, performs routine assignments designed to develop professional engineering work knowledge, gain familiarity with techniques, approaches, practices and the nature of engineering systems, equipment, etc. and to develop the ability to apply fundamental engineering principles and techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out sequence of related engineering tasks. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

SPECIFIC to this role: The position is responsible for load planning, contingency planning, support long term planning based on load forecasts, and reliability performance for the delivery system. The candidate will work closely with a distribution system modeling engineer to analyze load and reliability data and determine appropriate solutions to improve the architecture on the distribution and mitigate overload conditions and enhance reliability, either at the circuit level or substation transformer level.

Primary Responsibilities for Both :

  • Understanding annual facility load projections for both distribution circuits and transformers

  • Identify normal thermal overload conditions on distribution circuits and distribution substation transformers through load projections

  • Understanding annual Reliability Performance Indexes of Distribution Circuits and Devices (SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI)

  • Identify poor Reliability performing assets and develop corrective actions and solutions

  • Utilize Synergi (Distribution Software) to preform load flow modeling to identify thermal and reliability issues on the electric distribution system

  • Understand substation transformer contingency concepts

  • Understand protective device defeat at peak settings (DAP) for Loop Scheme automation

  • Develop Project Scopes and estimates to solve thermal overload conditions that occur at peak operating times

  • Develop Project Scopes and estimates to improve poor service reliability, power quality issues, and equipment failures

  • Support preventive maintenance programs; thermography, switch and recloser replacements on the distribution system

  • Develop detailed project scopes and cost estimates for identified solutions for DG Interconnects on circuits and substations in your grid planning areas

  • Perform voltage study analysis using Synergi (Distribution Software) and recommend corrective actions on existing circuits or proposed circuits.

  • Provide technical assistance to ROC (Regional Operating Center) and Operations on circuit or transformer planned outages or emergency outages when requested

Engineer I/II - Outdoor Lighting

As an Engineer in the Outdoor Lighting Services Department, we are seeking an individual who combines the required technical abilities with an outgoing personality and the ability to engage potential and existing customers for product sales growth.

The work location can be filled in either Charleston, SC (Electric Operations Building - North Charleston) or Columbia, SC (Lighting Storeroom in Cayce).

The Engineer position would have responsibilities encompassing several different focuses. These responsibilities will be accomplished by both office duties and travel within the service territory. The primary focus will be sales, engineering, planning, and management of major lighting projects throughout Dominion Energy South Carolina's (DESC) service territory. In addition, this role will work closely with DESC Key Account Managers, Distribution Operations, and other Lighting Department Personnel to promote the growth of DESC's lighting programs, evaluate and implement new lighting technologies, and integrate standards into Lighting Project processes. Finally, the position will be responsible for the research and development of Smart City Controls and Sensor service offerings.

For its primary focus, this position requires competence in electric distribution systems, judgement in the selection of lighting products, and adaptation of techniques for the lighting installation. The selected candidate will spend approximately 50% of their time in the field with the balance in the office. This position will prepare construction drawings, cost estimates, and track the status of multiple projects. During the construction process, the successful candidate will be responsible for supplying necessary specifications, providing status updates, and interacting with various regulatory agencies, municipal officials, engineering firms, and property owners. Finally, for future reference, the candidate will provide completion documentation (as-builts).

Job Summary

Under immediate supervision, this warehouse position is primarily responsible for performing a variety of routine clerical tasks and inventory control functions including:

More specifically, the successful candidate will develop skills to prepare themselves for potential advancement in Line-work, Substation, Design or Dispatch areas. As a Groundman, the majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor". Must be willing and able to work up to 300 hundred hours a year in overtime. Must be able to respond within one hour of a call for overtime. Specific Groundman functions include but are not limited to the following activities:

- Providing tools, materials and supplies to journeyman linemen

- Ensuring safety rules and regulations are observed on the worksite

- Driving trucks and ensuring they are properly stocked and maintained

- Preparing the equipment and worksite for effective completion of assignments

- Operating various types of equipment used in the construction process (diggers, aerial devices, etc.)

The selected candidate must be 18 years of age at the time of application, must obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL within 6 months of employment. Due to weight limits on equipment, weight restriction of 290 pounds applies.

We have multiple vacancies in Fairfax, Alexandria, Herndon, Springfield, Warrenton, Woodbridge, and Leesburg District Offices.

The starting pay rate will be 20.12 an hour for Warrenton, advancing to 25.36 after 1 year.

The starting pay rate will be $25.36 an hour with an additional 10% per hour Wage Supplement for Fairfax, Herndon, Alexandria and Springfield for a total of $27.89 per hour. A 5% per hour Wage Supplement is available at the Leesburg & Woodbridge locations for a total of $26.62 per hour.

In addition there is a $225.00 per month commuting stipend for the Alexandria District office

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required Qualifications:

- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis

- Ability to carry up to 60 pounds

- Ability to work on ladders and hydraulic lifts

- Ability to be on call and quickly respond for electrical restorations

- Ability to learn how to operate construction equipment and use hand tools

- Computer application aptitude

- Ability to work within a physically demanding work environment

- A strong driving record which will allow the candidate to obtain a commercial driver's license by the end of the fifth month of employment

Job Summary

North Anna Power Station in Mineral, VA is seeking an entry level Nuclear Instrument Technician.

  • Works under direction of a Supervisor or Senior Technician and performs maintenance and calibration activities.

  • Performs work activities in both a shop and field environment to include normal and radiological areas of the plant.

  • Work activities are related to maintenance, calibration and testing of safety-related equipment associated with electrical, mechanical and instrumentation and control systems.

  • Satisfactorily completes the Instrument and Control Technician Training program.

  • Assists with scheduled work activities such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and calibrations.

  • Works on both analog and digital control systems including microprocessor, electronic, and pneumatic instrumentation and controls including pressure, temperature, and flow sensors and associated alarm circuits.

  • Corrects anomalous operations of indicators, controllers and instrument loops using more advanced test equipment and investigative techniques.

  • Accurately completes documentation associated with assigned job tasks and complies with approved procedures.Complies with and demonstrates a working knowledge of Work Management processes, Equipment Clearances (safety tagging), Radiological Work permits associated with department maintenance work assignments and Safety regulations, policies, and practices.Assists Technicians with performing maintenance, calibrations, and testing of equipment and control loops on systems and equipment, including the reactor containment and other radiological areas, during all modes of plant operation.

  • Uses industry accepted human performance practices to promote error free performance and coaches others to raise standards and expectations. Satisfactorily completes the initial training requirements and on-the-job training and evaluation requirements identified in the Nuclear Instrument Technician Training Program as accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Must possess 1 year or more of related experience. Commercial nuclear power experience and Nuclear Navy (ET or EM) experience preferred.

  • Successful completion of the Instrument and Control Technician qualification test as part of the Development Program.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electronic equipment and circuitry.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with the general theories of instrumentation and control and their methods of application in nuclear power stations.Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot analog and digital instrumentation and control circuits.

  • Demonstrated general familiarity of electrical and mechanical physical/dimensional measurements.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret a range of general diagrams, prints, and written procedural instructions and to perform work using the information.

  • Satisfactorily completes the required initial training and on-the-job training and evaluation processes in order to proceed in line of progression as identified in the Nuclear Instrument Technician Training Program as accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training.

  • Must be physically able and willing to utilize respirators, SCBA bottles, fall protection or other equipment essential to the requirements of maintaining a Nuclear Power Plant including making containment entries.

  • Must be able to and willing to work at varying elevations, confined quarters and radiological areas of the plant.

  • Must have the physical ability to carry a minimum of 50 pounds tooling, test equipment, and plant equipment.

Job Summary

The Electric Distribution Operations department in Midlothian office in Richmond, Virginia has an Electric Serviceman 1st Class vacancy.

This position requires a self-starter who can effectively prioritize and who doesn't mind working alone and driving. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the following:

  • The repair and maintenance of both overhead and underground electrical distribution lines

  • Being the first responder to power outages

  • Working closely with the Regional Operations Centers within the Dominion service territory

  • Working alone 90% of the time.

  • Working a rotating shift.

  • Available for call-outs during outages and or storm restoration events

  • Eligible for premium pay for applicable overtime hours

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required:

This position requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in overhead and underground electrical line work (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications)

*The selected individual must be able to assess at a competency level 4 in the Dominion Lineman Development program in both overhead and underground energized line work.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have a solid understanding of industrial electrical distribution systems and maintenance techniques

  • Must understand and be competent in switching practices related to the electrical distribution industry

  • Knowledge of Safety processes and practices within the industrial electrical distribution industry

  • Must have strong communications skills verbal and written

  • Must be able to understand industry 3-way communication method

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone 90% of the time while still being part of a local team.

  • Position requires the ability to obtain a valid class A CDL by the end of the 5th month of employment

  • Call out, overtime availability, and availability to work shifts is required

Job Summary

Kewaunee Nuclear Power Station is seeking an ISFSI Shift Supervisor to join the team.

The ISFSI Shift Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and managing activities of the stored spent fuel at the ISFSI in accordance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's regulations. This position demonstrates a sincere respect for the need for attention to all matters affecting nuclear safety. During off-hours, this individual is the senior management representative on-site. During a declared emergency, this position will assume the responsibilities of the Emergency Director for Emergency Plan purposes. Has responsibility for the overall safe, reliable, and efficient operation of an Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation Facility, under all conditions, in accordance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's regulations and Dominion's Operating Specifications and Standards. The ISFSI Shift Supervisor will also exercise control over the conduct of maintenance operations on all plant equipment during the shift. Ensures shift operations are conducted in accordance with requirements of the license, technical specifications, and station procedures. May interface with transmission facility during assigned shift. Will coordinate operational activities required to support normal or abnormal conditions, maintenance evaluations, and testing of equipment. Will also provide oversight and leadership on an offshift basis to station personnel to coordinate work activities and provide support. Includes assigning work orders, verifying tagging, reviewing drawings and specifications, acquiring approvals, reviewing scope, safety and completion of jobs.

The ISFSI Shift Supervisor will supervise and direct the daily activities of site personnel and supplemental employees. Activities include: Prioritizing and assigning daily activities; Training employees; Performing surveillances per the applicable technical specifications and programs; Monitoring and maintaining fire protection equipment; Monitoring and maintaining heating and ventilation equipment; Performing daily site inspections; Responding to abnormal conditions including fire and severe weather; Responding to chemical spills and environmental concerns; Evaluating plant events for reportability to the NRC; Ensuring corrective and preventive maintenance is performed; Ensuring proper work methods and safety standards are followed; Maintenance of programs assigned (e.g., Corrective Action, Training etc.) Maintenance of Licensing Basis Documents; Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

  • Demonstrated leadership skill and ability to provide clear work direction, develop work schedules, and make decisions.

  • Above average skill in problem solving, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to work with all levels of the ISFSI organization and external stakeholders to ensure quality requirements and expectations are achieved. Effective working independently and in a team environment.

  • Experience in working with vendors and ability to determine when to call consultants and contractors for dealing with problems beyond the scope of owner-organization expertise.

This role is the top progression level position in the Engineer series. Job Summary

We have multiple vacancies in the Charlottesville District Office.

The successful candidate will be exposed to the many facets of construction, operation and maintenance of the Electrical Distribution System. If you enjoy the variety of challenging work outside of an office and want to develop communication, technical and mechanical abilities, the Groundman position may be an excellent starting point for a career with Dominion Energy. More specifically, the successful candidate will develop skills to prepare themselves for potential advancement in Line-work, Substation, Design or Dispatch areas. As a Groundman, the majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor". Must be willing and able to work up to 300 hundred hours a year in overtime. Must be able to respond within one hour of a call for overtime. Specific Groundman functions include but are not limited to the following activities:

- Providing tools, materials and supplies to journeyman linemen

- Ensuring safety rules and regulations are observed on the worksite

- Driving trucks and ensuring they are properly stocked and maintained

- Preparing the equipment and worksite for effective completion of assignments

- Operating various types of equipment used in the construction process (diggers, aerial devices, etc.)

The selected candidate must be 18 years of age at the time of application, must obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL within 6 months of employment. Due to weight limits on equipment, weight restriction of 290 pounds applies.

The starting pay rate will be $20.12 per hour advancing to $25.36 per hour after 1 year.

Required Qualifications:

- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis

Job Summary

  • Develops instructional materials and conducts training for various technical training programs at the Company's nuclear power stations.

  • Works on technical training topics and is responsible for supporting the design, development, implementation and evaluation of training in the classroom, laboratory and on-the-job.

  • Responsible for supporting in the maintenance of training programs in accordance with nuclear industry, regulatory and legal requirements.

  • Interfaces with regulatory personnel and industry peers.

  • May be required to become a member of the Station's Emergency Response Organization.

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below.

- Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Instructor:

  • Required to have at least 8 years in the trade, craft or discipline (Electrical Maintenance)

  • Preferred to have 4 years of directly related experience with Electrical Maintenance accredited program initial training as part of the 8 years in the trade.

Sr Instuctor:

  • 12 + years of related Electrical experience OR;

  • Certified Instructor (including 5+ years of experience) OR;

  • RO or SRO (including 5+ years of experience) OR;

  • Sr Instructor Training Cert from Dominion (including 5+ years of experience)

Required for both:

  • Candidate must be willing and determined to be fully qualified and proficient in the specific craft discipline for which they would train - Nuclear Electrician.

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and ability to prepare, present and practice job related skills, with class participants, through the conduct of On-the-Job training and/or Task Performance Evaluations (OJT/TPE).

  • Must have led OJT/TPE modules for the specific discipline(s) for which they will conduct training.

  • Must have been observed and formally approved to conduct OJT and/or TPE for specific discipline(s).

  • Must have demonstrated ability to obtain in-depth knowledge of instructional design theory needed for progression in the job series.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with regulators.

  • Some knowledge of instructional theory and design; SAT preferred.

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Good personal computer skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate various instrumentation and controls.

  • Possesses some informal leadership skills.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor , Other Education: Education

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Graduate of related Dominion Development Program preferred North Anna and Surry must meet ANS 3.1 12/79, Section 4.4.7.2Candidates for Sr Instructor positions in Nuclear at Innsbrook must meet ANSI/ANS 3.1 1993, Section 4.5.4

Job Summary

The DESC Right of Way department manages the function of easement, permits and fee simple acquisitions that are required on a daily basis for electric and gas operating groups.

An Associate Land Agent / Land Agent position is available with the DESC in the Columbia, SC and Aiken, SC areas respectively.

This role negotiates and secures legal land agreements with affected landowners, whether they are private owners, corporations or government agencies to permit the construction of facilities. Negotiates, prepares and secures binding agreements (rights-of-way, leases, grants, fee purchases, etc.) with property owners and government entities (i.e. SCDOT) for electrician transmission and gas distribution needs. Performs title research and investigations. Assists in the preparation of condemnation request. Identifies ownership of surface and subsurface real estate interests for affected properties. Acts as liaison between landowner and company. Inspects property and utilizes public information and comparable real estate information to determine value. Prepares and submits applications for various permits, licenses and bonds (road/railroad crossings, driveway permits, building permits, heavy hauling permits, etc.) Investigates damage claims, assesses damages and negotiates settlements. Interprets, creates and enforces land, leasehold or easements rights. Coordinates efforts with input from inside and outside legal counsel. Supervises third party land agents.

Candidate must have or be able to obtain a SC Real Estate License and become a Notary Public within 6 months of employment.

  • Knowledge of state and local laws concerning royalty ownership, laws of descent, storage rights and property rights.

  • Knowledge of courthouse record keeping at the county level.

  • Ability to complete title searches for determining oil, gas, mineral, surface and sub-surface rights.

  • Ability to identify solutions to resolve conflicts.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, speak persuasively and develop rapport internally and externally.

  • Ability to prepare reports, letters, memos and to maintain documentation.

  • Ability to interpret maps, plats, blueprints, plans and surveys.

  • Ability to operate personal computer.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Working knowledge of pipeline construction practices, as well as various applicable regulations including those that pertain to FERC jurisdictional projects.

  • Bargaining and negotiation experience.

  • Ability to build positive working relationships with customers, co-workers and management.

Education Requirements

Associate Land Agent:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and 0-2 years of right of way or related work experience; OR

Land Agent:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2-5 years of right of way or related work experience; OR

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Must possess valid driver's license with a good driving history and ability to travel in personal vehicle to various locations.

Preferred: IRWA Credentialing, Knowledge regarding DESC Electric & Gas Operations

Candidate must have or be able to obtain a SC Real Estate License and become a Notary Public within 6 months of employment.
