PenFed is hiring a Analyst II, Auto Lending Analytics at our McLean, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this job is to work with senior management to determine the strategic plan for the Auto Lending lines of business to develop and conduct funnel conversion optimization, data analytics, financial assessment, business intelligence, and performance reporting. The Analyst will und erstand the overall Auto Lending vision and strategy and set up an analytics agenda that optimizes portfolio performance against profit and loss constraints. The Analyst will place particular emphasis on data mining and will leverage both internal and external sources through collaboration with stakeholders throughout the credit union.

  • Provide thought leadership and strategic thinking to translate business challenges into an analytical framework. Independently provide business insights and recommend actions.

  • Conduct multi-dimensional data and analytical problem solving. Solve business problems by applying advanced data and analytical methods. Conduct end-to-end analysis that includes data processing, analysis, evaluation of customer insights and presentations.

  • Utilize analytical tools (SQL, R, Python) and data query tools to build, test, evaluate and maintain robust data analysis and reporting for management to make timely and informed decisions.

  • Perform funnel conversion analysis to ensure optimal efficiency at every stage of Application and increase funded volume.

  • Help craft auto lending default insurance strategy across auto channels (Direct, Indirect, 3rd Party Refi).

  • Work with key stakeholders including Product Owner, Marketing, Operations, User Experience, Finance, Fraud, IT, and external business partners to evaluate, manage, and execute initiatives aimed at driving Auto portfolio growth.

  • Directly mine and evaluate behavioral/demographic attributes and other internal and external data elements. Leverage data to identify credit union segments with high propensity for Auto Loan demand and develop programs to drive incremental accounts and balance growth.

  • Perform competitive Market analysis to identify gaps between internal programs and competitor programs.

  • Maintain profitability and loss monitoring and reporting.

  • Analyze individual credit policy rules to measure efficacy.

  • Mentor junior analysts to develop career and personal development plans.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field is required. Master's Degree in a quantitative or a related field is highly preferred.

  • Five (5) years of experience in consumer products in consumer financial or related industry. Auto experience is preferred.

  • Five (5) years of experience in complex, data driven problem solving, customer behavior analysis, and product performance analysis.

  • Experience in statistical modelling including linear and logistic regression, decision tree and GBM.

  • Strong skills in various data analysis and visualization tools including SQL, Tableau, Excel, and PowerPoint are desired.

  • Proficiency with several statistical tools (R, Python, SAS, etc.,) and analysis is required.

  • Curiosity, attention to details, strong critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations, ability to multi-task

  • Self-motivated and strong interpersonal skills to actively lead and implement ideas in a cross-functional team environment

The Senior Manager Lending Analytics and Pricing will lead cross-functional projects using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to generate insights to guide the product strategy & pricing position of PenFed's Consumer Unsecured Lending products (Personal and Student Lending).   • Continually scan the competitive pricing landscape and provide weekly updates to senior management of PenFed's competitiveness and needed pricing responses.

  • Enhance competitive scan automation.

  • Collaborate with product managers to optimize marketing campaigns in acquisitions that align with the credit policies and scoring models.

  • Evaluate and onboard optimal data sources for industry competitive pricing insight.

  • Migrate all consumer products to cashflow/valuation-based pricing methodology.

  • Work with internal risk team to generate life-of-loan default and prepayment curves to integrate into cashflow models.

  • Long-term goal to achieve loan-level pricing across all relevant products.

  • Help build price elasticity of demand model to optimize program pricing constrained by profitability and volume.

  • Conduct quarterly competitive deep dives, comparing PenFed product structure to industry, identifying and reporting advantages and opportunities to Senior Management.

  • Develop and define product level profitability targets and automate profitability reporting. Manage individual origination channel profitability with a combination of programs, products, pricing, incentives, and system integration

  • Help shift PenFed leadership view of profitability/return from back-of-napkin margin (APR - Costs = Margin) to cashflow/valuation-based metrics (IRR, NPV, ROA)

  • Generate & interpret analytic findings and formulate recommendations to share with key decision makers about pricing, incentive programs, cost to acquire, acquisition strategies, marketing channels, and origination partners. Clearly articulate findings and observations and make recommendations as appropriate.

  • Present price, program & policy changes to relevant Committees (Senior Management) for approval.

  • Monitor & report impact of pricing initiatives to inform future strategies.

  • Maintain knowledge regarding academic research, best practices, and industry developments.

  • Develop and implement quality controls to ensure quality standards, organizational expectations, and regulatory requirements.

  • Act as SME on unsecured products, data, processes, and analytics.

  • Articulate, draft, and compose accurate and detailed business requirements to move forward projects within the product strategy roadmap

  • Work with Product & Channel Development, Marketing, Credit Risk, Fraud, Finance, and external partners to evaluate, manage, and execute pricing initiatives aimed at driving consumer banking portfolio growth

  • Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in complex, data driven problem solving, preferably including price/profitability optimization, customer behavior analysis, and product performance analysis.

  • Hands-on skills in R/Python, SAS, SQL, VBA, Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint, and proficiency working with large dataset are required.

  • Expertise in data Warehouse and business intelligence associated tools are preferred.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field is required. Master's Degree in a quantitative or a related field is highly preferred.

  • Five (5) years of experience in consumer products in consumer financial or related industry. Auto experience is preferred.

  • Five (5) years of experience in complex, data driven problem solving, customer behavior analysis, and product performance analysis.

  • Experience in statistical modelling including linear and logistic regression, decision tree and GBM.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance with a senior level of competency.

The primary purpose of this position is to lead product strategy and delivery for the credit card Rewards platform maximizing the engagement and redemption opportunities while focusing on better customer experiences, faster delivery and maximizing digital delivery solutions. Partner with third-party Rewards vendor, marketing, and other internal and external stakeholders to drive the creativity and innovation of initiatives, enhancements, and messaging to ensure credit card product goals are achieved. Work closely with cross-functional teams to execute plans and heighten awareness to increase rewards redemptions and member engagement.

  • Acts as a skilled project manager with a thorough understanding of timelines, milestone, tasks, and delivery dates for multiple, concurrently running projects.

  • Identify, prioritize, and launch innovative products and enhancements in partnership with third-party vendor(s) and internal cross-functional teams.

  • Lead cardmember and industry research and become an expert on customer preferences related to rewards redemptions and catalogue options, while lowering the operational cost per point.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or related field.

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in consumer banking, required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in Loyalty, Credit Card Rewards, required.

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience with consumer Credit Cards preferred.

  • Expertise in Rewards strategy and project management principles and practices.

  • Demonstrated strategic analysis skills with an ability to understand business drivers.

Product and Program Management:

  • A thorough understanding of capital markets, partner activities, industry dynamics, and consumer finance trends.

Ensure that related programs, policies, and procedures conform to regulatory agencies and Federal and State regulations, standards, and guidelines, pertaining but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Bribery Act, NCUA Privacy Regulations, Reg B, Reg Z, Service Members Civil Relief, and FCRA/FACTA. Required to attend initial and ongoing annual Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required, Master's Degree in a related field is preferred.

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of work experience with Loan Portfolio Management, Consumer Banking, Auto, or Unsecured Lending is required.

  • Minimum of 2 (two) years of direct management experience.

  • Proven success in managing pricing, policy, and credit programs.
