Responsibilities:
Perform grooming services including nail trims, ear cleaning. bathing, brushing, haircuts, and styling, adhering to breed standards and pet owners' preferences.
Safely and efficiently maintain & operate grooming tools and equipment such as clippers, shears, brushes, and dryers.
Learn and follow Petco's grooming policies, standards and guidelines to ensure quality and consistency in all areas of the grooming business.
Monitor pets for any signs of discomfort, illness, or injury, and promptly report any concerns to pet owners and store management.
Assess and address each pet's individual needs, taking into consideration their coat type, skin condition, and temperament.
Provide exceptional customer service by actively listening to pet owners' requests, offering grooming recommendations, and addressing any questions or concerns.
Educate pet owners on grooming maintenance and at home care practices to promote the overall well-being of their pets.
Collaborate with fellow groomers and store team members to create a positive and supportive work environment.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a professional groomer with a strong portfolio of successful grooming work.
In-depth knowledge of various dog breeds, their grooming requirements, and common health issues & behaviors.
Proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards.
Familiarity with grooming tools and equipment, and the ability to handle them safely and effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact confidently and professionally with pet owners and team members.
Strong attention to detail, ensuring grooming services are executed accurately and to the highest standards.
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift and handle pets of different sizes, and perform repetitive grooming tasks.
Compassion and patience when handling pets, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the grooming process.
Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays based on the grooming schedule and customer demand.

Position Purpose:
Promotes and ensures the efficient, profitable and effective operations of the Grooming Salon. Responsible for achieving targeted goals of the grooming salon to include sales, gross margin, labor percentage, Voice of the customer/guest experience metrics, supply costs, staffing, guest satisfaction and the daily operations of the salon.
Ensures the health, welfare and proper care of all live animals. Provides grooming services that align with brand promise. Provides training, feedback and coaching for Pet Stylists, and all other salon partners. Ensures the safety of both salon partners and pets in our care. This job is composed of a variety of different tasks that may be covered by Petco operational standards, policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
The incumbent must be able to consistently perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Pet Parents and their Pets:
Ensure the safety, health and well-being of animals by following Petco standards, policies and procedures. Exhibits a high level interest in animal welfare. Follow pet parent's instructions and/or Breed Profiles/Standards when clipping or trimming an animal's coat. Provides courteous service to all guests by utilizing INTENT behaviors in the salon. Reviews guest experience surveys & results with General Manager and works with salon staff to develop action plans.
Salon & Store Partners:
Professionally manages and performs grooming services including brushing, bathing, ear and teeth cleaning, expression of anal glands, haircuts & trimming nails. Directly supervises all other Grooming Salon partners. Assists the General Manager in recruiting and hiring Grooming Salon partners, and develops a team focused on building long-term guest relationships. Identifies and communicates all situations and/or conditions that negatively affect the Grooming Salon to the General Manager and/or Leader on Duty. Applies a talent management skill set within the scope of recruiting, hiring, training, work scheduling, coaching, safety procedures and succession planning. Partner experience focusing on the health & wellness of both the pet and the partner.
Salon Operations
Supervises the daily operations of the grooming salon. Reviews all grooming partners' paperwork(s) daily to ensure the proper sales are recorded on each pet and salon partner before turning in to the General Manager. In partnership with the General Manager, orders supplies as necessary for the grooming salon and properly maintains clippers, blades, and other hand tools required to perform grooming services. Assists with building the grooming business (IE: Reminder calls, Greeting guests on the sales floor and or during vaccination clinics or dog training sessions to promote grooming services). Adheres to and promotes established safety procedures and maintenance of clean, safe and healthy environment for store partners, guests and animals. Interacts professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with internal and external partners and guests. Ensures that the salon is staffed and properly trained to offer grooming services during all hours of operations. Work with General Manager on proper scheduling within the salon, to include days, evenings and weekends Meets grooming sales projections, controls payroll and expenses to meet target, maintains daily and weekly records, schedules guest grooming appointments, assists in preparation of bi-weekly work schedule. Analyzes reports to assess the state of the business and develops action plans to improve where needed to achieve targets and goals. Performs activities to maintain a knowledge and understanding of Store Sales, performance and data.

Nature of Supervision

Supervisory Responsibility
Directly supervise all Grooming Salon partners. Provide guidance and training to salon staff. Test potential applicants for grooming procedures and evaluate skills on other job related tasks. Complete performance evaluations for all salon partners.
Education and Experience
Minimum high school diploma (its equivalency i.e. GED) or the equivalent work experience. Some college level business/management courses is preferred. 5 years' experience in guest service roles as a store partner is preferred. Experience supervising partners, or demonstrating an aptitude for training, motivation and sales techniques, and analytical abilities is preferred. Minimum two years' experience in all breeds grooming is required. Experience monitoring and providing direction to Grooming partners is preferred. Previous supervisory experience and prior retail experience are preferred.
Work Environment
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors in the grooming salon. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds) and standing for long periods of time. A large amount of this partner's time will be spent in direct contact with our guests and their dogs and the remaining time will be with the other salon and store partners. The work environment can be noisy and wet. Improper use of safety equipment and/or not following proper lifting techniques may pose of risk of injury to customers, pets, and store personnel. Follow all safety precautions and procedures.

This position has continuous contact with the general public at the store and at store-related events, and regular contact and exchange of information with other departments both in the field and at the Support Center(s). Ensures the proper health, appearance, welfare, and proper handling of all animals.
Ensures merchandise is properly priced, displayed and stocked according to inventory levels appropriate for the store; make merchandising decisions with consideration of visual standards, special ad set-up and monthly ad planner guidelines, adjusting these as necessary to best implement in each individual store.
Completes and submits accounting, inventory management and payroll paperwork in a timely manner; ensures all expenses are maintained within budgeted levels.
Maintains the Pet Care Center's appearance adheres to Petco operational standards and safety procedures.
Protect Petco pets & merchandise and minimize loss by ensuring all Pet Care Center standards and operating procedures are met, including workplace safety, inventory control, and loss prevention.
Ensures Pet Care Center is opened/closed in accordance with policies and procedures, especially those relating to safety and security.

Education and Experience
In addition to a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), an applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of basic business & finance acumen, analysis and problem-solving skills, and high focus on people development & guest service.
Excellence in communication and computer skills are also required.
Three or more years of management experience or the equivalent is required, while previous retail management experience is preferred.
A working knowledge of general business practices is highly desirable, as are strong organizational skills.
A qualified applicant will possess an aptitude for demonstrating strong customer service and the ability to instruct others. In addition to having a professional appearance and demeanor, the applicant must also demonstrate a keen and genuine interest in all kinds of animals.
Must be licensed to operate a motor vehicle. Completion of specific PETCO Management Achievement Program Modules as well as internal management roles may be required for internal candidates.

Education and Experience
In addition to a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), an applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of basic business & finance acumen, analysis and problem-solving skills, and high focus on people development & guest service.

Three or more years of management experience or the equivalent is required, while previous retail management experience is preferred.

The General Manager directly supervises a team of leaders and is responsible for all Pet Care Center partners including services.

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although occasional merchandise stocking, customer carry-outs, and bank deposits will require that an employee leave the Pet Care Center briefly. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from failure to follow safety precautions and procedures. A limited amount of travel will be required.
Contacts
This position has continuous contact with the general public at the Pet Care Center and at Pet Care Center -related events, and regular contact and exchange of information with other departments in the field, Distribution Centers, and at the Support Centers. Contact outside of PETCO may be required in order to coordinate merchandise returns, ordering parts, Pet Care Center repairs, coordination of vaccination clinics, Pet Care Center events, vendor meetings, etc.

Familiarity with the dog training class offerings and the PCC's dog training schedule.

Previous PETCO experience preferred.

Analyze inventory management data for the department and make recommendations for improvement.- Ensure OSE standards are maintained in the department.- Provide training and coaching in GUEST and product knowledge to partners daily on the sales floor and on an ongoing basis. Ensure a friendly and courteous atmosphere by all partners in the department.- Achieve minimum presentation standards at all times in aquatics.- In partnership with the SL/GEL ensure proper scheduling is being maintained in the department to ensure in-stock goals and guest service during peak hours.- Partner with the Inventory Leader to ensure in-stock levels. Goals are achieved by reporting max changes or requested overrides are achieving I.M. grade.- Effectively organize and price all clearance merchandise for the department.- Assist the SL/GEL in planning out location changes needed to the grid and ad planner to maximize sales.

Maintains the Pet Care Center's appearance adheres to Petco operational standards and safety procedures.
Protect Petco pets & merchandise and minimize loss by ensuring all Pet Care Center standards and operating procedures are met, including workplace safety, inventory control, and loss prevention.
Ensures Pet Care Center is opened/closed in accordance with policies and procedures, especially those relating to safety and security.
Responsible to maintain the Pet Care Center's professional image, appearance, and cleanliness.

Education and Experience
In addition to a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), an applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of basic business & finance acumen, analysis and problem-solving skills, and high focus on people development & guest service.
Excellence in communication and computer skills are also required.
Three or more years of management experience or the equivalent is required, while previous retail management experience is preferred.
A working knowledge of general business practices is highly desirable, as are strong organizational skills.

Provides quick and courteous service to all guests by determining their needs, sharing product knowledge, and suggesting the appropriate merchandise to satisfy their needs, utilizing our selling strategy throughout the PCC.

Performs the daily balance of cash drawer as necessary.- Assists in stocking and facing merchandise according to established standards.- Completes cash register transactions as well as guest carry-out service consisting of merchandise weighing up to but not exceeding 50 pounds per trip.- Adheres to loss prevention policies.- Assists in the loading, unloading and stocking of merchandise according to established procedures, in order to ensure that the store is well stocked and that inventory counts are accurate.- Ensures that store animals, birds, reptiles and fish receive the highest quality care, maintained in habits that are clean, safe, and secure, and that all reasonable and required steps are taken to maintain their good health.- Alerts store leaders immediately if any animal, reptile, bird or fish is in need of medical attention or other special care.- Performs routine housekeeping tasks as required to maintain the professional image and appearance of the store, to include sweeping/mopping the floors, dusting, washing the windows, facing the merchandise on the shelves, restroom maintenance, etc.- Assists store leadership in the opening/closing of the store as needed, to include the accurate completion of required paperwork.- Participates in the completion of quarterly and annual physical inventory counts.- Adheres to and promotes established safety procedures and maintenance of clean, safe and healthy environment for store partners, guests and animals.- Performs special projects as assigned.Supervisory Responsibility:None.Work Environment:The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although merchandise receiving, merchandise carry-outs, or stock balancing will require leaving the store briefly. This position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise and standing for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and pull 2000 lbs utilizing material handling equipment. Improper use of safety equipment and/or not following proper lifting techniques may pose of risk of injury to customers, pets, and store personnel. Follow all safety precautions and procedures.

Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift and handle pets of different sizes, and perform repetitive grooming tasks.

Education and Experience
A high school diploma or its equivalent required; some college level business/management courses preferred.
1 or more years of management experience or the equivalent is required, with 2 or more years preferred.
Must be licensed to operate a motor vehicle.
Proficiency in communication skills, organizational skills, and computer skills required to include: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications as needed.
Demonstrates proficiency in areas of general business practices, basic business & finance acumen, analysis and problem-solving skills, and high focus on people development & guest service.

Supervisory Responsibility
The Operations Leader - Animal Care directly supervises the Operations Specialists.
As a Leader on Duty, supports quick and courteous service to all guests within the Pet Care Center.
Ensures that the Pet Care Center is opened and / or closed in accordance with established P&Ps as it applies to SFS operations.
In partnership with the Pet Care Center leaders, ensure proper Pet Care Center attendance processes are being maintained.
Adhere to and promote established safety procedures for partners, guests, and pets.
Work Environment
This role is expected to provide support during key operational hours, with weekend availability. Most job duties are conducted indoors, although occasional merchandise stocking, customer carry-outs, and bank deposits will require that a partner leave the Pet Care Center briefly. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from failure to follow safety precautions and procedures. A limited amount of travel will be required.
Contacts
This position has continuous contact with the public at the Pet Care Center and at Pet Care Center -related events, and regular contact and exchange of information with other departments in the field, Distribution Centers, and at the Support Centers. Contact outside of PETCO may be required to coordinate merchandise returns, ordering parts, Pet Care Center repairs, coordination of vaccination clinics, Pet Care Center events, vendor meetings, etc.

Position Responsibilities

Provide a great experience by engaging with guests utilizing your acquired skills and training.
Assist guests in the proper selection of merchandise in accordance with their identified needs.
Demonstrate a high level of interest in the welfare, health, and proper handling of all animals.
Process transactions in a way that creates a great experience for each guest.
Generate future business through a deep understand of the guests and their pet/s.
Perform related duties in support of the Pet Care Center attaining its assigned sales goals.
Ensure merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed to create a great presentation for our guests.
Completes and applies training programs to maintain a high level of expertise of their role.
Adhere to established operational guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Promote a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
Evaluate guest inquiries and as needed refers to the Leader on Duty.

UTILIZE SELLING BEHAVIORS. You're the key to providing an amazing guest experience within our Pet Care Locations. Utilizing the behaviors within our Sales Model is critical to being able to identify and solve for their needs both today and in the future.
CONTRIBUTE TO A SAFE ENVIRONMENT . You'll be empowered through our training programs to maintain our safety protocols. Bottom line, the safety of partners, guests and pets is our #1 priority.

Basic Qualifications
Be able to work successfully within a team. In addition to having a professional appearance and demeanor, applicants must also demonstrate a keen and genuine interest in animals and their care. Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills are necessary due to the nature of interaction with the public and other partners and leaders within the store.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience within sales, retail, or related field. Possess a high level of knowledge of pet nutrition and an aptitude for sales techniques.
Supervisory Responsibility
Work Environment
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although merchandise receiving, merchandise carry-outs, or stock balancing will require leaving the store briefly. This position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise and standing for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and pull 2000 lbs utilizing material handling equipment. Improper use of safety equipment and/or not following proper lifting techniques may pose of risk of injury to customers, pets, and Pet Care Center personnel. Follow all safety precautions and procedures. Must be available for shifts on evenings, weekends and some overnights and holidays.
