The Supervisor of Construction at Southern Company Gas oversees all construction activities related to major large gas distribution and transmission projects, as well as regional construction of gas distribution mains and services. This role involves leading a team that includes Project Coordinators, Inspectors, Specialists, contractors, second-party service providers, and other construction personnel responsible for executing gas utility infrastructure projects. The Supervisor ensures that financial and operational goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

As our Supervisor, Construction, a typical day might include:
Oversees construction of underground gas utility infrastructure for residential, commercial, and industrial properties
Responsible for capital construction activities on projects that total $10MM-$50MM annually, performed by an average of 6-18 construction crews.
Reviews and approves highly complex statements of work, work orders, change orders, and invoices in accordance with authorization approval policies
Monitors monthly and annual capital and operating expense budgets and implements cost control within a functional and/or geographical area

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
This is a field-based position and work location is variable based on the location of the project
The Construction Supervisor may be required to be on the job site during all construction hours or otherwise ensure that the site is staffed by direct reports during all construction hours. Long workdays and weekend work may be required. Periods of night shift work may be required
Standing and/or walking construction sites for long periods of time may be required
Lifting objects up to 50lbs may be required
Driving a Company vehicle for long trips or commutes may be required
Overnight travel may be required up to 25% of the time
Working in all types of weather conditions may be required
Climbing in and out of excavations, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders to inspect pipeline construction activity may be required
Walking on changing elevation and/or uneven surfaces may be required
Being on-call while not on duty may be required

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
2+ years' experience in roles related to quality assurance and/or fabrication required.
Recognize and understand a wide variety of welding techniques.
Weld, Paint, or Fabrication knowledge and experience is required.
Ability to read and interpret documents mechanical drawings, Weld and Coating symbols, work instructions, and written directions.
Must be capable of using computer software to enter information in database.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Identify and follow proper procedure for all non-conforming material. Assist in ensuring all non-conforming reports (NCR) are tracked and recorded.
Communication and cooperation with the engineering, manufacturing, and quality department to ensure quality compliance and continual product improvement.
Basic Technician Proficiency Qualifications:
Level 1 Inspector - Minimum requirements /1 year of formal training such as a Diploma in Welding Technology from a community college or an apprenticeship in a welding related craft, 2+ years industry experience. Coating inspection and blast inspection training provided by supervisor.
Level 2 Inspector - Level 1 requirements completed, NACE Level 1 certified, completion of preparatory AWS CWI. +5 years industry experience.
Level 3 Inspector - Level 1 and Level 2 requirements completed, NACE Level 2 qualifications. AWS CWI. +7 years industry experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Limited local travel will be required.
Must be able to work in confined spaces and to position oneself in various positions including low to the ground or high up on equipment.
Must be able to lift 50lbs and manipulate heavy test equipment and cables.
Manual dexterity to operate digital equipment, including computers and PLC's, protective relays, controllers, and other such equipment with small fine buttons and operators.

Perform all quality inspections and functional testing on all manufactured switchgear to ensure that the gear meets necessary electrical code, that the gear functions as designed by the specified engineer, and that the gear is safe to be energized on-site before it leaves the manufacturing plant.
Must be able to reliably work an eight-hour minimum shift with some voluntary exceptions. JOB SUMMARY
Plant David M. Ratcliffe Generating Facility, a state-of-the-art Natural Gas Combined Cycle (NGCC) plant located in DeKalb, MS, is currently seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Station Operator.
This operator position performs duties as required to ensure reliable plant operation. Successful candidates must be able to support a 24/7 rotating schedule including holidays and overtime when required.
Job Requirements
Three or more years' operations or maintenance experience in an industrial facility preferred.
As an alternative to experience a technical degree in electrical or instrumentation from an accredited educational institution or equivalent military technical training will be considered.
Power generation operations experience is preferred.
An electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation background is strongly preferred. Candidate must have the capability to train in either electrical or mechanical disciplines as a dual qualification requirement within the required line of progression.
Candidate must possess the ability to progress to control room operator within the required line of progression.
An in-depth knowledge and understanding to operate all traditional combined cycle power generation plant equipment. Specifically, but not limited to combustion turbines, steam turbines, pumps, and compressors will be beneficial to successful candidate.
This position will also perform real-time equipment assessments, perform Lockout/Tag out, and load and unload various types of trucks.
Successfully passing POSS/MASS pre-employment test.
