JOB SUMMARY:

The Technology Service Desk analyst position is responsible for providing the frontline, single point of contact for business partners requiring assistance from the Technology Organization (TO) for issue resolution and service request fulfillment, and new events that come into the Technology Service Desk (24x7). The RLC analyst must combine World Class customer service and is also a technical expert that uses those skills to ensure that TO's business partners needs are handled on the initial contact, as often as possible.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

B.S. degree in a technology-related field, preferred

1 to 3 years' experience in computer/technology field, preferred

Thorough knowledge of information technologies and an understanding of infrastructure and telecommunication transport

Ability to build and maintain relationships within IT and other departments

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Consult with business partners - 65%

The Technology Service Desk analyst position requires the analyst to be available to take calls, utilizes phone and voice communication technologies to interact with business partners, responding to support needs in a timely fashion with excellent customer service. The analyst in this position must strive to increase the value received from end-user technology products by communicating and educating others about current products and/or future products, and acts as a coordinator, performing communication touchpoints with Infrastructure Operations Center, Application Portfolio teams and products owner, Workplace Support, etc.

Communication and Teamwork - 25%

The analyst in this position also follows established processes and procedures and adheres to all Sarbanes-Oxley controls. The analyst should demonstrate teamwork when working with other technology departments and key business units; to inform appropriate parties when issues arise with product deployments, updates, and changes, as well as degraded service.

Other responsibilities - 10%

The Technology Service Desk analyst must ensure that all incidents are completely and appropriately documented so that trend analysis and call avoidance analysis can be completed. This position is a technical expert who consults with and fixes technology issues for clients and develops solutions. This position is critical for ensuring that business partners' technology needs are met and that business partners are satisfied.

Nuclear Operations Plant Instructor - Plant Vogtle 3&4

JOB SUMMARY

The Nuclear Operations Plant Instructor will conduct classroom and simulator instruction, develop training and examination materials, and process and maintain training records for licensed and non-licensed operator training programs. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a license or certification at the Senior Reactor Operator level. To license at the Senior Reactor Operator level, candidates must meet the NRC required education and experience criteria described in INPO Academy Document 10-001 - "Guidelines for Initial Training and Qualification of Licensed Operators".

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop and maintain training and evaluation materials used for operations training programs.

  • Conduct training sessions in various settings to ensure plant staff is trained, retrained and qualified as required.

Education Requirements:

  • For candidates without prior commercial experience, prior U. S. Navy nuclear power experience with two or more years as a qualified Reactor Operator, Engineering Officer of the Watch, Engineering Watch Supervisor, or equivalent desired.

Experience Requirements:

  • A total of five (5) years of nuclear power plant experience (commercial or Navy) is required.

  • A maximum of two (2) years experience may be fulfilled by academic or related technical training on a one-for-one basis.

  • Previous instructor experience in a formal training environment is desired.

  • AP1000 experience is preferred.

Community Engagement

  • Identify and analyze potential environmental justice impacts in projects and draft environmental justice equity, diversity and inclusion provisions in reports or other documents.

  • Conduct environmental justice and social impact assessments to support business development and infrastructure modernization.

  • Assess and lead efforts to mitigate risks, explore mitigation strategies and build appropriate community engagement plans concerning environmental justice and tribal engagement.

Collaboration and Partnerships

  • Represent VNG in Southern Company/Southern Company Gas enterprise-wide collaboration on community engagement, environmental stewardship, and environmental justice.

  • Partner with Regulatory Affairs and Governmental Affairs to establish and maintain relationships with community leaders, influencers, and other key stakeholders to amplify community outreach efforts and partnerships.

  • Partner with Corporate Communications and other internal stakeholders to create, curate and manage published content (images, video, written) to engage community members, stimulate conversation and build brand awareness.

  • Coordinate with the Marketing and Corporate Communications team to integrate community relations strategies with broader marketing campaigns and leverage community insights for marketing purposes.

  • In partnership and collaboration with Corporate Communications, research and implement new technologies and tools for community engagement, such as social media platforms or community management software, to enhance the effectiveness of engagement strategies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Job Experience and Education

  • Experience as a Journeyman Lineman with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the electric utility industry and 3 years of Journeyman Lineman experience working with voltages above 600 volts.

  • Overhead distribution experience (up to 25Kv) required.

  • Underground distribution experience (up to 25Kv) preferred.

  • Previous experience working on the Georgia Power system highly preferred.

  • Leadership experience preferred.

  • Must demonstrate skills, knowledge, and ability by successfully completing the company's pre-employment New Journeyman Evaluation will be required.

  • Familiar with work involving energized conductors required.

  • Construction and maintenance line work is desirable.

  • Familiar with heavy equipment directly related to line work skill sets.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic mechanical aptitude.

  • Knowledge of hand tools.

  • Experience using hydraulic and battery tools.

  • Previous experience with material handling bucket trucks.

  • Knowledge of when and how to apply proper cover-up in energized situations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with their counterpart in SouthStar's physical operations group to optimize the profitability and manage the risks associated with storage and swing positions in various deregulated retail gas markets across the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions. Additionally, this position will support the growth of SouthStar's green energy initiatives, helping to identify and acquire environmental commodity products needed to sustain and grow the Company's green product portfolio.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, execute and manage financial trading strategies to optimize SouthStar's storage assets across the Midcontinent and Mid-Atlantic regions

  • Develop, execute and continuously monitor hedging strategies to manage swing exposure considering historical market volatility, the fundamental outlook for natural gas prices in each market served and the potential impact to SouthStar's net income given stressed tested scenarios of potential price & weather outcomes

  • Collaborate with the Director, Physical Trading to determine SSE's physical exposures and associated strategies each month in order to achieve the objectives of maximizing the return on storage assets while mitigating swing risks associated with firm retail delivery requirements

  • Reassess and reposition SouthStar's swing and storage strategies intra-month in response to changes in market fundamentals, changes in the expected behavior of SouthStar's retail full requirements portfolio and predicted fluctuations in HDD's relative to initial forecast

  • Manage SouthStar's portfolio of environmental commodities to meet the forecasted volume & margin requirements of the Company's retail and wholesale products teams

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific to both positions, the primary job responsibilities include:

Due to the operational characteristics of the IBRs and uncertainty around their performance, the engineer will also be responsible for supporting real-time steady-state stability studies in the operations planning horizon.

Job Responsibilities

  • Proactive engage in the Generator Interconnection process and work cross-functionally with both internal and external groups to obtain official approvals for initial synchronization and Commercial Operation readiness.

  • Monitor IBR performance to ensure appropriate and expected response to system disturbances.

  • Conduct operations planning studies to support system operations functions including but not limited to local reliability studies (e.g., Local Generation Limits), Interchange Distribution Calculator (IDC).

  • Conduct transient and voltage stability studies using TSAT and VSAT. Periodic on call required.

  • Perform technical analysis, including adherence of IBRs to SOCO's reactive and voltage schedule requirements.

  • Review and maintain dynamic and power flow models for generators and associated controls required to perform real-time stability analysis, including IBR modeling.

  • Assist in the support of real-time stability studies and special assessments as needed.

  • Establish and maintain operating protocols and procedures, and support on-going NERC testing after Commercial Operations (e.g., MOD-025, MOD-026 etc.)

  • On behalf of the Southeastern Reliability Coordinator, the Southeastern Balancing Authority Area and the Southern Company Transmission Service Provider, serve as additional contact for generator interconnection issues that are operational in nature.

  • Participate in industry committees and initiatives as needed.

Education Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

Job Description

The Project Coordinator plays a crucial role in guaranteeing that the pipeline assets built by both our internal and external teams are the backbone of our Company's success, delivering safe and reliable gas service to millions of customers. This position at Southern Company Gas is essential for ensuring our pipeline assets are constructed with a focus on safety, quality, compliance, and efficiency.

Please note, this position is posted as a job family and can be filled at a Project Coordinator, I (Level 3), Project Coordinator, II (Level 4) or Project Coordinator, III (Level 5). Individuals who exhibit advanced proficiency through their work experience, education, and certifications may qualify for the higher grade.

As our Project Coordinator, a typical day might include:

  • Provides oversight of natural gas transmission and distribution infrastructure construction projects

  • Analyzes costs, benefits for specific construction projects, and evaluates alternatives to ensure cost effectiveness of construction projects.

  • Maintains customer satisfaction through timely and thorough communication with individual customers, municipalities, and other governmental agencies at pre-con meetings and throughout the project (such as state DOTs, counties, etc.)

  • Contributes to the achievement of a project's safety, quality, financial, and schedule goals

  • Basic interpretation of design drawings and specifications

  • Basic knowledge of piping construction techniques and welding

Project Coordinator, II

Required

  • 2 years of industrial construction, engineering or operations

  • 4 years of industrial construction experience with no degree

  • Demonstrated success in project coordination on small industrial construction projects

  • Demonstrated success in supporting large projects $10MM-$50MM

  • Ability to lead small projects up to $5MM

  • Valid driver's license

  • Basic construction management and contract administration, and construction safety

  • Basic MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and internal cost management and work management systems

  • Basic knowledge of gas industry and OSHA regulations and their impact on construction processes

  • Intermediate construction management, contract administration, and construction safety; basic CPM scheduling

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • The Project Coordinator may be required to be on the job site during construction hours. Long workdays and weekend work may be required. Periods of night shift work may be required.

  • Standing and/or walking construction sites for long periods of time may be required.

  • Lifting objects up to 50lbs maybe required.

  • Driving a Company vehicle for long trips or commutes may be required.

  • Overnight travel may be required up to 50% of the time.

  • Working in all types of weather conditions may be required.

  • Climbing in and out of excavations, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders to inspect pipeline construction activity may be required.

  • Walking on changing elevation and/or uneven surfaces may be required.
