Service Center Representative

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To provide excellent service to callers regarding claims for multiple lines of business; to expedite the claims application process and provide detailed claim notes on all calls; to resolve issues with one call/one person response; and to direct calls to appropriate escalation path as needed.

Medical Billing experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as primary liaison with callers; follows client specifications in assisting with questions and solving problems related to the claims application and servicing processes.

  • Educates and informs the customer via multiple communication channels about documentation required to process a claim, required time frames, payment information, and claim status.

  • Educates claimants/callers on client requirements and benefit plans documenting all required details of the call in a concise professional manner.

  • Enters verbal and written application information that meets both the internal and external customer's requirements accurately into the claims management system.

  • Assigns new claims to the appropriate claims handler.

  • Directs customer calls to the appropriate contact at multiple locations or escalates to Service Center Specialist/management as needed.

  • Attendance during scheduled work hours is required.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

High school diploma or GED required. College courses preferred

Experience

One (1) year customer service experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Inbound call center experience preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Understanding of claims management

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multi task in fast paced environment

  • Ability to support multiple clients across communication channels and utilize multiple systems simultaneously

  • Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently

  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES MAY INCLUDE

  • Performs initial and ongoing clinical assessment via telephone calls to evaluate the injured worker's injury, medical treatment, psychosocial needs, cultural implications and support systems.

  • Effectively communicates and builds relationships with the claims' examiner, client, injured worker, attorney and supervisor.

  • Identifies issues related to delayed recovery and/or return to work and problem solves with a creative thinking approach

  • Negotiates treatment and disability duration with providers through use of medical and disability duration guidelines, adhering to quality.

  • Identifies opportunities to expedite care for cost containment and timely medical recovery.

  • Provides recommendations for alternate clinical resources to support claim resolution.

  • Maintains client's privacy and confidentiality, promotes client safety and advocacy; and adheres to ethical, legal, accreditation and regulatory standards.

EDUCATION AND LICENSING

Current unrestricted RN license(s) in a state or territory of the United States required. Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from accredited college or university or equivalent work experience preferred. Certification in case management, rehabilitation nursing or a related specialty is highly preferred.

Leads, inspires, and motivates colleagues to deliver exceptional service outcomes (quantitative and qualitative) to internal and external clients served.

Builds on existing relationships, establishes environment of trust, and inspires teamwork to encourage skill building and risk taking.

Delivers well-structured and impactful business reports and presentations to senior and executive leadership internally and client leadership/decision makers.

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To manage claim caseload of basic to highly complex claims within granted authority level including related financial implications, along with financial implications and to mentor Account Representatives and Account Specialists.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizes special account instructions to obtain individual customer information and adhere to instructions; identifies, initiates, and coordinates various specialized services such as subrogation, fraud evaluation or case management review to resolve claims.

  • Mentors/coaches account representatives and account specialists; facilitates round table discussions within the assigned team.

  • Applies jurisdictional and medical knowledge to properly assess the indemnity, medical and expense exposure of assigned claims and appropriately interprets and applies insurance coverage.

  • Reviews client files and collaborates with team to prepare information which includes thorough analysis of file strategies, claims status and emerging trends.

  • Proactively manages litigation in conjunction with client requirements; works constructively with client and legal representatives to resolve claims.

  • Ensures compliance and best possible outcomes by minimizing financial liability.

  • Compiles requirements in order to prevent penalties and fines; utilizes instructions and tools provided to ensure that all state required documentation is issued accurately and in timely manner in accordance with specific jurisdictional timeframes and guidelines.

  • Monitors reports as assigned and documents compliance with key jurisdictional requirements (i.e. EDI, timeliness of benefit payments, etc.); assists Team Lead in tracking completion of team's tasks and projects; reviews SAS/SOX documents and submits in timely manner; and assists with takeover and reverse takeover projects ensuring that claim files are transferred and handled appropriately.

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To manage claim caseload of basic to highly complex claims within granted authority level including related financial implications, along with financial implications and to mentor Account Representatives and Account Specialists.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To manage claim caseload of basic to highly complex claims within granted authority level including related financial implications, along with financial implications and to mentor Account Representatives and Account Specialists.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: To analyze High-Level commercial General Liability / Bodily Injury claims on behalf of our valued clients to determine benefits due, while ensuring ongoing adjudication of claims within service expectations, industry best practices, and specific client service requirements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES MAY INCLUDE

  • Analyzing and processing claims through well-developed action plans to an appropriate and timely resolution by investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim.

  • Negotiating settlement of claims within designated authority.

  • Communicating claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client.

  • Reporting claims to the excess carrier and responding to requests of directions in a professional and timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing: 5+ years of claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

  • Professional certification as applicable to line of business preferred.

  • Litigation experience required.

  • Bilingual a plus.

Licensing / Jurisdiction Knowledge: Active adjusters license required.

Account Consultant

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To manage claim caseload of basic to highly complex claims within granted authority level including related financial implications, along with financial implications and to mentor Account Representatives and Account Specialists.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizes special account instructions to obtain individual customer information and adhere to instructions; identifies, initiates, and coordinates various specialized services such as subrogation, fraud evaluation or case management review to resolve claims.

  • Establishes and maintains effective relationship with internal and external customers and coworkers; communicates effectively and timely.

  • Mentors/coaches account representatives and account specialists; facilitates round table discussions within the assigned team.

  • Investigates, evaluates and resolves claims; identifies potential problems/trends in claim files and takes corrective action or makes corrective recommendations; interprets medical reports and state law or jurisdictional law in claim handling.

  • Applies jurisdictional and medical knowledge to properly assess the indemnity, medical and expense exposure of assigned claims and appropriately interprets and applies insurance coverage.

  • Reviews client files and collaborates with team to prepare information which includes thorough analysis of file strategies, claims status and emerging trends.

  • Proactively manages litigation in conjunction with client requirements; works constructively with client and legal representatives to resolve claims.

  • Ensures compliance and best possible outcomes by minimizing financial liability.

  • Compiles requirements in order to prevent penalties and fines; utilizes instructions and tools provided to ensure that all state required documentation is issued accurately and in timely manner in accordance with specific jurisdictional timeframes and guidelines.

  • Monitors reports as assigned and documents compliance with key jurisdictional requirements (i.e. EDI, timeliness of benefit payments, etc.); assists Team Lead in tracking completion of team's tasks and projects; reviews SAS/SOX documents and submits in timely manner; and assists with takeover and reverse takeover projects ensuring that claim files are transferred and handled appropriately.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. State adjuster licenses required.

Experience

Six (6) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
