Claims Examiner - Workers Compensation (Hybrid Schedule- Atlanta, Charlotte, Memphis, Orlando)
PRIMARY PURPOSE : To analyze complex or technically difficult workers' compensation claims to determine benefits due; to work with high exposure claims involving litigation and rehabilitation; to ensure ongoing adjudication of claims within service expectations, industry best practices and specific client service requirements; and to identify subrogation of claims and negotiate settlements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyzes and processes complex or technically difficult workers' compensation claims by investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim; manages claims through well-developed action plans to an appropriate and timely resolution.
Negotiates settlement of claims within designated authority.
Calculates and assigns timely and appropriate reserves to claims; manages reserve adequacy throughout the life of the claim.
Calculates and pays benefits due; approves and makes timely claim payments and adjustments; and settles clams within designated authority level.
Prepares necessary state fillings within statutory limits.
Manages the litigation process; ensures timely and cost effective claims resolution.
Coordinates vendor referrals for additional investigation and/or litigation management.
Uses appropriate cost containment techniques including strategic vendor partnerships to reduce overall cost of claims for our clients.
Manages claim recoveries, including but not limited to: subrogation, Second Injury Fund excess recoveries and Social Security and Medicare offsets.
Reports claims to the excess carrier; responds to requests of directions in a professional and timely manner.
Communicates claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client; maintains professional client relationships.
Ensures claim files are properly documented and claims coding is correct.
Refers cases as appropriate to supervisor and management.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supports the organization's quality program(s).
Travels as required.
QUALIFICATION
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Professional certification as applicable to line of business preferred.
Experience
Five (5) years of claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Skills & Knowledge
Subject matter expert of appropriate insurance principles and laws for line-of-business handled, recoveries offsets and deductions, claim and disability duration, cost containment principles including medical management practices and Social Security and Medicare application procedures as applicable to line-of-business.
Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills
PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
Analytical and interpretive skills
Strong organizational skills

Claims Examiner - Workers Compensation (Hybrid Schedule- Atlanta, Charlotte, Memphis, Orlando)
PRIMARY PURPOSE : To analyze complex or technically difficult workers' compensation claims to determine benefits due; to work with high exposure claims involving litigation and rehabilitation; to ensure ongoing adjudication of claims within service expectations, industry best practices and specific client service requirements; and to identify subrogation of claims and negotiate settlements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyzes and processes complex or technically difficult workers' compensation claims by investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim; manages claims through well-developed action plans to an appropriate and timely resolution.
Negotiates settlement of claims within designated authority.
Calculates and assigns timely and appropriate reserves to claims; manages reserve adequacy throughout the life of the claim.
Calculates and pays benefits due; approves and makes timely claim payments and adjustments; and settles clams within designated authority level.
Prepares necessary state fillings within statutory limits.
Manages the litigation process; ensures timely and cost effective claims resolution.
Coordinates vendor referrals for additional investigation and/or litigation management.
Uses appropriate cost containment techniques including strategic vendor partnerships to reduce overall cost of claims for our clients.
Manages claim recoveries, including but not limited to: subrogation, Second Injury Fund excess recoveries and Social Security and Medicare offsets.
Reports claims to the excess carrier; responds to requests of directions in a professional and timely manner.
Communicates claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client; maintains professional client relationships.
Ensures claim files are properly documented and claims coding is correct.
Refers cases as appropriate to supervisor and management.

QUALIFICATION
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Professional certification as applicable to line of business preferred.
Experience

PRIMARY PURPOSE of a Care Team Representative
To provide excellent service displaying empathy to callers regarding claims for multiple lines of business, including but not limited to, expediting the claims process and providing detailed claim notes on all calls, resolving issues with one call/one person response, and directing calls to appropriate escalation path as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as primary liaison with callers from multiple client accounts within a shared services environment.
Follows specifications in assisting with questions and solving problems related to the claims application and servicing processes.
Performs claim intake and full-service customer support within regulatory requirements, company, and client expectations at all times.
Educates and informs the customer about documentation required to file/process a claim, required time frames, payment information, and claim status.
Educates claimants/callers on client requirements and benefit plans documenting all required details of the call in a concise professional manner.
Enters verbal and written claim information that meets both the internal and external customer's requirements accurately into the appropriate system.
Directs customer calls to the appropriate contact at multiple locations or escalates to Service Center Specialist/management as needed.
Attendance during scheduled work hours is required.

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To manage claim caseload of basic to highly complex claims within granted authority level including related financial implications, along with financial implications and to mentor Account Representatives and Account Specialists.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizes special account instructions to obtain individual customer information and adhere to instructions; identifies, initiates, and coordinates various specialized services such as subrogation, fraud evaluation or case management review to resolve claims.

Proactively manages litigation in conjunction with client requirements; works constructively with client and legal representatives to resolve claims.
Ensures compliance and best possible outcomes by minimizing financial liability.
Compiles requirements in order to prevent penalties and fines; utilizes instructions and tools provided to ensure that all state required documentation is issued accurately and in timely manner in accordance with specific jurisdictional timeframes and guidelines.
Monitors reports as assigned and documents compliance with key jurisdictional requirements (i.e. EDI, timeliness of benefit payments, etc.); assists Team Lead in tracking completion of team's tasks and projects; reviews SAS/SOX documents and submits in timely manner; and assists with takeover and reverse takeover projects ensuring that claim files are transferred and handled appropriately.

Workers Compensation Claims Team Lead - Assistant

Manages claim recoveries, including but not limited to subrogation, Second Injury Fund excess recoveries and Social Security and Medicare offsets.
Reports claims to the excess carrier; responds to requests of directions in a professional and timely manner.
Communicates claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client; maintains professional client relationships.
Ensures claim files are properly documented and claims coding is correct.
Refers cases as appropriate to supervisor and management.
Leads team meetings and assigns accountability for follow-up items.
Gathers important compliance/claims processing information to be presented at team meetings.
Assists in interviews of adjusters, clerical staff and provides feedback to hiring manager.\

Monitors, assists, tracks, and provides approval for all claims that are re-inspected by the Carrier.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree in building construction from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience
Five (5) years of experience in insurance adjusting or construction background or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience using Xactimate estimating software preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong working knowledge of repair practices/construction estimating
Excellent oral and written communication skills
PC literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Analytical and interpretive skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to perform multiple tasks and set priorities
Strong customer service skills
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
