As a dedicated Strategic Innovation Advisor Senior, you will work on the New Business Venture and Innovation team supporting Property & Casualty insurance products researching and implementing Generative AI solutions.
Supports USAA's strategic objectives by researching and testing innovations related to strategically defined CoSA focus areas. Accountable for resolving feasibility and viability of innovation concepts to include early-stage research, ideation, design, incubation, prototyping, piloting, developing a case and/or partnering with CoSA leadership for innovation efforts.
This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.
What you'll do:
Provides team support for the alignment of innovation efforts to appropriate focus areas.
Assists team members with technical training and professional development opportunities to increase their knowledge of the innovation process, business case development, and strengthen their ability to effectively lead projects of various scales.
Identifies strategic business opportunities and exercises a disciplined thought process to evaluate the problem statement and possible solutions. Delivers a work product which is a qualified concept with a formal recommendation to Strategy partners to pursue or not pursue.
Figures out and launches the incubation approach through experiments to test assumed business value for new opportunities (technology, channel, etc.), which includes coordination with internal business partners and securing funding.
Assesses feasibility and viability by evaluating whether the concept is technically and legally possible, and within realm of affordability.
Tests for market need and interest.
May lead multiple innovation programs or processes while mentoring.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor's Degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
6 years of experience in a business and/or staff function such as property and casualty, banking, or financial services that includes 3 years of experience leading and launching innovative solutions, leading wide-ranging, diverse and matrixed functional roles, handling IT backlogs and releases, and/or driving effective solutions against a problem set.
Demonstrated problem solving abilities, experience with human centered design practices, agile, or a lean start-up project approach
Detail oriented with a strong ability to lead and complete multiple competing projects within multiple lines of business.
Demonstrated ability to influence partners from senior levels of management and on a Line of Business Basis.
Knowledge of project-based methodologies such as Agile, Lean Start Up, Scrum, Portfolio Management, and tools such as Jira, Asana, Tableau, Salesforce, Rally, and Clarity.
Ability to effectively connect cross-functionally throughout the organization.
Sophisticated level of discernment in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.

The Opportunity
As a dedicated Director, Regulatory Relations, you will provide a broad range of strategic and tactical management of regulatory agency relationships. Responsibilities include promoting clear and consistent internal and external communications, identifying emerging regulatory issues, and support to management strategy concerning regulatory matters. As a dedicated Director, Regulatory Relations, you will provide a broad range of strategic and tactical management of regulatory agency relationships. As a dedicated Manager, Special Investigations Unit for Property & Casualty , you will be responsible for operational management of Claims fraud investigative teams. Directs staff in the investigation of cases involving questionable, suspect, or fraudulent activity. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures contributing to fraud control objectives, as well as compliance with state insurance fraud-related laws and regulations.
This is a field-based role for the Mid-West region. Candidates who are willing and able to work in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, or Michigan are encouraged to apply.
What you'll do:
Responsible for insurance fraud detection and investigation services to reduce fraud-related claim payments and costs, while avoiding unwarranted risk.
Ensures compliance with laws and regulations relating to claims handling and unfair claims practices and reporting statutes.
Participates in the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures for fraud control and investigative practices.
Performs leadership and management tasks, i.e., providing coaching, evaluating performance, review of time sheets, managing time off, conducting quarterly check-ins/ride-alongs, etc.
Evaluates, authorizes, and implements actions and decisions to carry out proactive claim's projects and investigations.
Reviews and evaluates investigation recommendations from investigators to ensure results and case documentation support conclusions.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
6 years P&C industry functional work experience OR 4 years of P&C experience plus military service experience.
2 years of demonstrated leadership experience, supervisory or management experience.
Extensive knowledge and experience in all levels of claims investigation or fraud investigation and regulatory reporting requirements.
Knowledge of anti-fraud analytics programs as it relates to fraud prevention and identification.
Thorough understanding of investigative tools and techniques to guide and coach special investigators.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners and business areas.
Demonstrated management skills and the ability to demonstrate monthly productivity and cycle time outcomes from investigations assigned to the SIU team.
Ability to prepare and present training sessions and case outcomes.

2+ years of SIU investigator experience.
Current or prior SIU leadership experience managing diverse teams across multiple locations and functions within SIU.
First and Third-Party auto and property claims investigations.
SIU or Fraud Investigation Designations (CFE, CIFI, SCLA, etc.,).
Demonstrated experience in leveraging business data to inform decision making and drive strategy.
US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner OR Law Enforcement experience.
Experience leveraging Digital Fraud Detection as a source of proactive referrals.

As a dedicated Manager, Claims Operations, you will lead a team of Sr. Injury Adjusters. This team will handle moderate complexity Attorney Repped Auto injury Claims for the Western Region.
In this role you will lead auto claims operations member service employees who are responsible for serving our members, and providing appropriate solutions as they investigate, evaluate and negotiate the claim. You will develop engaged employees through regular coaching and feedback to deliver business results. Implement process improvements, provide feedback on the process and lead organizational process changes. Drive execution of operational risk management, regulatory compliance training, policies and, procedures.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in Phoenix, AZ. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

6 years of progressive customer service, operational, military or leadership experience to include a minimum of 2 years of claims handling experience required with demonstrated proficiency.
2 years of direct team lead, supervisory or management experience.
Experience using and interpreting data to make decisions.
Demonstrated leadership, initiative, customer service and/or claims handling skills.
Acquisition and maintenance of applicable insurance adjuster license within 6 months time in role.

What you'll do:
Applies knowledge and understanding of fraud schemes and investigation strategies on any questionable or suspect first or third part claims.
Participates in the development of fraud prevention strategies.
Applies knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, and processes in investigating claims to include P&C insurance policy contracts, coverages and internal claims handling process and procedures.
Applies knowledge of state laws and regulations pertaining to insurance fraud in investigating claims.
Collects evidence of potential fraud through field or remote interviews and thorough searches of investigative databases, internal resources, Internet resources, public records, and forensic tools.
Makes recommendations within defined authority guidelines.
Prepares and presents detailed and comprehensive verbal and written investigative reports summarizing the results of the investigation and recommended outcome.
Develops and maintains external relationships with industry, law enforcement and other contacts involved in fraud investigation, detection, and prevention.
May serve as a resource team member on specific matters through demonstrated skill or training.
Assists with the delivery of fraud awareness training initiatives in a defined environment.
Handles CAT duty responsibilities as business requires.

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
2 years claims adjusting experience, or P&C SIU/Fraud Investigation experience OR 4 years prior investigative law enforcement (to include military) or relevant fraud industry investigation experience.
Proven investigatory skills.
Experience acquiring statements from various parties to incidents, witnesses, and suspects.
Ability to gather broad range of evidence and draw conclusions based on the objective details related to the applicability of fraud.
Confirmed ability to coordinate and prioritize workload, performing multiple tasks and devising solutions to problems.
Familiarity with using computers and various software packages to enter and extract data for analysis from relevant data sources and systems.
Knowledge of city, state and local regulations, legal concepts, understanding of contracts, case law, medical treatment, and medical terminology.
