This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. The Opportunity

As a dedicated AML Business Advisor Lead, you will be part of the Operations Enablement team within the First Line Bank AML Organization. In this role, you will design, execute, and sustain formal performance management practices (Management Systems) across a matrix organization. Facilitate training and support the integration of performance management concepts, skills, and templates. Monitor adherence / progress, communicate, and provide targeted support as needed to drive sustainment.

What you'll do:

  • Provides gap analysis, recommendations, and strategic direction to enhance business programs, projects, agile projects and/or processes in a client consulting capacity in direct support of AML/KYC initiatives.

  • Leverages and shares best practices gained from expert industry knowledge to identify opportunities for business efficiencies and minimizes risk.

  • Researches, plans, develops, implements, and administers business requirements, procedures, contracts, and processes to ensure compliance, and adherence to USAA's commitment to being World Class.

  • Identifies strategic partners and stakeholders to successfully communicate programs strategic impact.

  • Leads a matrixed team to evaluate programs long term effectiveness and impact to business programs, as necessary.

  • Maintains and demonstrates awareness of primary regulation commonly applicable to regulated financial institutions in the U.S. (e.g. anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption, fair lending and sales practices rules, etc.).

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 8 years of experience with credit cards and/or deposits and/or directly related experience.

  • Experience and ability to exercise oversight, knowledge and understanding of financial crime and AML policies, procedures, and control arrangements in a complex financial organization.

  • Demonstrated ability in leading projects, which may have involved cross-functional teams, conducting research to identify root cause, system issues, process gaps and opportunities and providing viable solutions.

  • Ability to provide effective consultation, to all levels of management, using the latest industry best practices and internal resources.

  • Experience developing solutions and recommendations that will increase efficiency and improve business processes, projects, and programs.

  • Experience in negotiating, prioritizing, and influencing to achieve desired business results.

  • Knowledgeable of the laws applicable to money laundering, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA PATRIOT act, US Treasury AML guidelines, OFAC requirements, and Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements.

  • Expert knowledge of disciplined execution, change management, and/ or risk management practices.

  • Extensive experience in supporting business processes to meet BSA/ AML or similar regulatory requirements.

  • Extensive experience leading change in a matrixed organization.

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $120,550-$230,400 .

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

As a dedicated Data Scientist Principal , you will leverage technical expertise and industry experience to influence the application, scalability, and enablement of artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) at USAA. This role will identify novel opportunities for advanced analytics solutions, effectively communicates with business leaders, product teams, and other key stakeholders and guides end-to-end solution development, IT implementation, and business adoption. What you'll do:

  • Identifies, researches, and defines large-scale, cross-functional AI/ML use cases in collaboration with business leaders, executive peers, and strategic partners. Guides end-to-end efforts to develop scalable, efficient, highly-performant, automated AI/ML solutions.

  • Applies deep expertise to amplify the impact of modeling techniques on emerging business initiatives. Collaborates with IT architects to design, implement, monitor, and scale cutting-edge AI/ML solutions that translate prototypes into novel products, services, and features.

  • Ensures that AI/ML solutions are built using industry best practices, and sound methodology. Works with model risk partners to promote a culture of regulatory compliance.

  • Designs large, complex information assets that enable applied analytics. Collaborates with engineering, data, and information architects to establish and maintain well-governed, documented, and controlled datasets from internal and external, structured, and unstructured sources.

  • Seeks opportunities to simplify, modernize, and standardize the model development lifecycle. Provides expert technical advice and guidance by vetting vendor acquisitions.

  • Actively raises the bar on talent and recruitment by leading or participating in communities of practice, talent development initiatives, and technical interview panels.

  • Clearly translates complex analytical and technical concepts to diverse, technical, and non-technical audiences in a way that promotes organizational data literacy and informs business priorities.

  • Provides technical oversight for building and maintaining a robust library of reusable, production-quality algorithms and supporting code.

  • Develops and maintains academic and industry relationships for research purposes. Represents USAA in key internal/external technology and advanced analytics conferences.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, economics, finance, actuarial sciences, science and engineering, or other similar quantitative discipline

  • 10 years of progressive experience in predictive analytics or data analysis, to include 6 years of experience in training and validating statistical, physical, machine learning, and other advanced analytics models.

  • 6 years of experience in one or more dynamic scripted language (such as Python, R, etc.) with a focus on writing code that is easy to follow, well documented, and commented where necessary to explain logic (high code transparency).

  • Subject matter expert in the concepts and technologies associated with classical supervised modeling for prediction such as linear/logistic models, discriminant analysis, support vector machines, decision trees, forest models, etc.

  • Subject matter expert in the concepts and technologies associated with unsupervised modeling such as k-means clustering, hierarchical/agglomerative clustering, neighbors algorithms, DBSCAN, etc.

  • Deep hands-on experience building, deploying, and managing the performance of advanced analytics solutions. Proven track record of providing cutting-edge solutions that drive business adoption and value.

  • Extensive project management experience and can anticipate and appropriately manage project milestones, risks, and impediments. Demonstrated history of appropriately communicating and escalating potential impediments and limitations to leadership.

  • Demonstrated experience in guiding and mentoring junior technical staff in business interactions and model building.

  • Extensive experience explaining and influencing complex technology decisions to both technical and nontechnical audiences at all levels in the organization and with cross functional and enterprise teams.

  • Demonstrated experience leading business or product/portfolio transformation through use of advanced analytics.

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

  • 5 or more years of experience in developing and executing a holistic AI strategy that accelerates achievement of an organization's business strategy, to include developing the multi-year execution roadmap, gaining sponsorship and funding from Senior and C-Suite Executives, and partnering with Technology and Business partners to successfully implement.

  • Experience successfully implementing a framework to identify AI/ML use case opportunities, measure expected benefits, and evaluate potential risks and mitigation.

  • Knowledge of the Insurance Industry including applicable laws and regulations

  • Experience leading efforts to enhance the overall AI literacy of an organization.

What you'll do:

  • With the use of digital tools, evaluates and appraises highly complex auto physical damage claims in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract, corporate guidelines and state laws and regulations.

  • Investigates claim damages including communicating with the insured, internal claims adjusters, and third parties/vendors. May require face-to-face interactions with members and third parties.

  • Reviews facts of loss and vehicle damage to determine if subrogation opportunities exist and ensures all supporting physical damage documentation is in the claim.

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, contracts, and internal processes/systems/procedures to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policy provisions.

  • Responsible for reviewing additional damages received from repair facilities to either complete a supplement or triage to field provider method of inspection.

  • May serve as a subject matter expert representative for disputed claims or trials. Serves as a resource to team members on escalated issues of a routine nature.

  • Partners with vendors and internal business partners to facilitate highest complexity claims resolution. May also involve external regulatory coordination to ensure appropriate documentation and compliance.

  • Proactively provides policyholders with information regarding their coverage, repair estimate or total loss valuation, and claims/repair process while setting appropriate expectations.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking dedicated professionals to work in our San Antonio office for future customer service claims opportunities in 2024 . We have new training classes starting in September, October, and November. Military veterans and spouses are highly encouraged to apply.

In addition, you will respond to status inquiries from various parties, document reported losses, set appropriate expectations, provide proactive communications, advice, and empathy to our members.

What you'll do:

  • Document First Notice of Loss by obtaining relevant information for effective claim investigation. Set up appropriate services, as needed, to proactively move claims forward to the furthest point in the process within scope of role and expectation.

  • Create loss reports, describe or verify coverage as appropriate, and initiate the most effective method of damage assessment to assign for file handling.

  • Assist with questions regarding the claims process and set expectations for next steps to help ensure claims are effectively resolved and accurately documented.

  • Resolve status inquiries and, when appropriate, route to handling adjuster.

The Opportunity

What you'll do:

  • With the use of digital tools, evaluates and appraises highly complex auto physical damage claims in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract, corporate guidelines and state laws and regulations.

  • Investigates claim damages including communicating with the insured, internal claims adjusters, and third parties/vendors. May require face-to-face interactions with members and third parties.

  • Reviews facts of loss and vehicle damage to determine if subrogation opportunities exist and ensures all supporting physical damage documentation is in the claim.

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, contracts, and internal processes/systems/procedures to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policy provisions.

  • Reviews claims/suppliers for fraud indicators and refers to Special Investigations Unit for handling, if applicable.

  • Maintains accurate and current claim file documentation throughout the claims process for complex claims.

  • Maintains high standards of productivity through effective desk management, timely follow ups, and accurate mapping of repair plan and timeline for repair in support of fast and accurate claims adjudication.

  • Responsible for reviewing additional damages received from repair facilities to either complete a supplement or triage to field provider method of inspection.

  • May serve as a subject matter expert representative for disputed claims or trials. Serves as a resource to team members on escalated issues of a routine nature.

  • Partners with vendors and internal business partners to facilitate highest complexity claims resolution. May also involve external regulatory coordination to ensure appropriate documentation and compliance.

  • Escalates to Audit Senior Leadership team and Audit EMG and appropriate committee's significant control weaknesses and strengths related to complying with policies, standards and procedures.

  • Reviews validation testing for area of responsibility to ensure that the recommended corrective actions to audit and regulatory identified issues are completed, sustainable and effective, and continues to evaluate the appropriateness of management's corrective actions in response to issues identified.

  • Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

  • Stays engaged with governance committees. May present results of work during committee meetings.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • 10 or more years of experience in internal audit, risk management, compliance, or other control partner experience to include 6 years of experience assessing business risks and applying appropriate audit plans to manage risks.

  • 6 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required.

  • 4 or more years of experience accountable for overseeing and developing audit plans and overseeing the execution of the plans.

  • Experience interacting with regulators, regarding audits or controls.

  • Expert knowledge of internal auditing standard, and techniques required to perform audits.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices

  • Knowledge of banking, insurance, and investment operations.

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing auditing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals required.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the full spectrum of regulatory examinations and other supervisory engagement and processes.

  • Expected working knowledge of the following regulatory guidance including but not limited to: Dodd-Frank Act, Homeowners' Loan Act, Fair Lending laws, Texas Insurance Code, New York Insurance Law, and/or SEC, Federal Reserve, OCC, FFIEC, CFPB, UDAAP, and Federal regulatory bodies and applicable supervisory guidance.

What sets you apart:

  • Extensive experience leading internal audit teams in a large financial institution, preferably in consumer banking.

  • Strong project management leadership experience in risk or audit functions.

  • Broad risk experience, either in audit or in enterprise risk functions.

  • Demonstrated accomplishments validating consent order work.

  • Experience leading relationships with regulators.

  • CIA designation.

  • CRCM or comparable industry risk certification.

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $ 188,330.00 - 338,990.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
