This position will support Construction Management services for our Properties & Buildings projects throughout the country and will support our project team on United States Postal Service program. This role will actively participate in the full project cycle with a focus on complex sector work , such as facilities projects from the inception of the project through the final construction closeout. Our team work on high quality, high profile, national and international projects with our practice providing design services for numerous USPS facilities nationwide

Your Impact
Lead construction management efforts for facilities projects, representing WSP as the overall design and construction representative
Provide field direction on typical coordination issues and documentation of all field directives.
Establish best practice methodologies in the effort to achieve the highest quality construction, while working within approved budgets and prescribed schedules.
Work extensively with the project team (architects, engineers, general contractors, code consultants) in the development and execution of the construction plans
Perform conflict resolution and coordination in the field
Perform periodic site visits and inspect progress of projects
Ensure that work is completed in conformity with design and Company requirements
Document and track site observations and punch list items
Monitor all phases of project construction while maintaining master project files
Attend OAC and other site meetings on a frequent basis as the WSP representative
Provide weekly progress reports on assigned projects
Oversee and coordinate punch list activities
Assist in bidding reviews and conducting contracting interviews
Perform constructability reviews of design documents for multidisciplinary review, including drawings and specifications.
Perform contract review
Review shop drawings, product data, and RFIs as needed
Participate in project turnover
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, working in high volume capacity
Provide solid decision making skills based on changing conditions
Work collaboratively in a team atmosphere
Travel as required to job sites
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Construction Management degree, Engineering degree or equivalent relevant experience as a General Contractor
12+ years of construction experience assisting with bidding process, coordinating punch list activities, performing site visits and inspections.
Experience working in high volume environment, managing multiple projects in healthcare
Proficiency with Excel, Newforma, and other construction management software
Experience with building and infrastructure construction management; including rehabilitation and new design.
Knowledge of relevant engineering systems and construction requirements, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions to arrive at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Travel will be required to attend jobsites

Our Transportation Team is seeking a Full Time Structural Engineering Intern to work out of our Herndon, VA office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.
This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 19th, 2025. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.
Your Impact

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Traffic Engineer for our Herndon, VA office. Provides technical assistance and guidance for the analysis, improvement, planning, engineering, design, and operation of streets and highways, their networks, adjacent land uses, and interaction with other modes of transportation and their terminals. Tasks may include assisting with performing capacity analyses, reviewing permitting, and assisting with the design, concept development, and construction of roadways, traffic patterns, and traffic signal design and timing. Generates accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding construction specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, maps, technical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
Perform professional traffic engineering work and assist with conducting investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, roadways, intersections, signage, signals, pavement markings, and transportation corridors to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
Participate in incorporating advanced modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality of end-users, transportation vehicles/systems, and incorporate future-ready solutions with traffic engineering design standards.
Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work, assist with laying out roadways, establishing reference points/elevations/grades to guide construction, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site, providing technical assistance on traffic engineering studies, capacity analyses, traffic complaint investigation, traffic plan review, signal system design, monitoring and control, and operations analysis to ensure roadways are designed in a safe and efficient way and the driver is provided with all of the necessary information and safety metrics to help ensure that their driving experience is safe and efficient.
Conduct traffic counts for roadways and intersections to determine the volume of traffic, where the traffic is going to and from, and the type of traffic on the roadway.
Takes a second look at safety features on the road, recommending traffic safety enhancement projects on the basis of respective studies.
Determine appropriate signage, signals, and pavement markings along a new or existing road.
Investigate accident data and determines if changes can be made to roadways or intersections to make it safer for all who use the roads.
Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.
Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction issues or problems.
Conduct engineering studies and surveys to gain further information on a particular design and construction problem or issue and/or to plan for future needs.
Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during field/site investigations, offering input with developing action plans for low to mid-level risk mitigation activities.
Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
Work collaboratively with other engineers, planners, scientific professionals, and DOT authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded road and transportation improvement and development projects.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior traffic design experience.
Engineer in Training Certification.
Knowledge with DOT advisory circulars and procedures.
Knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices, process, and design/build related to traffic control equipment, capacity and operational analysis, project management, and related communications systems.
Experience with roadway planning, design, and construction management; including project involvement in a variety of infrastructure projects, rehabilitation and construction of pavement, navigational aids, grading design, and safety management.
Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
Knowledge of relevant roadway transportation construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.

Your Impact
Lead construction management efforts for facilities projects, representing WSP as the overall design and construction representative
Provide field direction on typical coordination issues and documentation of all field directives.

Perform detailed and involved accounting tasks related to managing project contract, billing events and billing transaction exceptions revenue for medium-sized and/or moderate-level complex projects.
Partner with the Project Manager and project team to establish the project budget, updating budgets, and making project accounting recommendations as needed when contract modifications or budget changes arise.
Generate project financial reports, evaluating the reports for any items, including labor breakage, that need to be escalated for review by the Project Manager as necessary.
Authorize access to project accounts, and the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts in compliance with established accounting practices and guidelines.
Maintain quality control standards and procedures for generating accurate and precise project-related financial records using Oracle, spreadsheets, and software.
For assigned projects, apply learned accounting expertise relating to project resources, labor and expenses, investigating project variances and submitting variance reports to management.
Verify contract and change order characteristics for projects that are medium-sized and/or of a moderate-level of complexity, including reading and interpreting contract language, method of compensation, modifications, purchase orders, and subcontract/consultant terms.
Monitor key indicators for managing and analyzing problem projects, keeping project managers and/or project accounting manager informed on any noted concerns.
Responsible for ensuring draft invoices from billing are accurate based on the contract requirements agreed upon with the client; identifying any needed corrections, obtains Project Manager documentation and signature. Finalizes the invoice approval with the Project Manager/billing team and submits the invoice to the client.
Subcontract management and coordination with Contract Administrators. This includes evaluating subconsultant invoice submittals for accuracy, establish and maintain purchase orders for subconsultants, and requests and follows up on subcontractor payment requests with Accounts Payable.
Identify and record unpaid contract billings, following up on any delinquent accounts receivable and/or unbilled costs.
Respond to requests for more detail from clients, investigate all project expenses not billed to clients, and review and approve all project-related billings to clients.
Attend project-related meetings to inform the team regarding the current status of project financials, articulating problem projects and following up on any identified actions as discussed.
Create and submit government reports related to projects.
Compile information for review by a more Senior Consultant prior to submitting for internal and external auditors as required.
Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
Remain current in latest project accounting principles and subject matter.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or closely-related discipline (or demonstrated proven equivalent experience).
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in accounting, project contracts and change management documents.
Working knowledge of project accounting principles, practices, and methods and their application to project work-related issues.
Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound independent judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions with financial implications to the company.
Ability to initiate and coordinate efforts with various stakeholders around contract and project requirements.
Effective/Strong Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an accounting and non-accounting audience.
Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and accounting software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, MS Excel, pivot tables, formulas, data format/sort/filter, VLOOKUP, predictive models, and tools.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply learned subject matter and technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data collation, documentation, statistical analysis, and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
This is a professional role and as such work deadlines and work hours may extend beyond a typical workday.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
