The successful candidate will be involved in infrastructure projects in the Central region as well as projects across US. The position requires an effective team player who can work cooperatively to provide engineering services to its clients on design and construction projects.
Your Impact
Serve as geotechnical engineering director for subsurface exploration programs, design of foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical projects in Detroit, and other infrastructure (highway/railroad, water/wastewater, etc.) and building projects throughout Michigan and surrounding states.
Help lead the growth, innovation, and project delivery related to underground construction projects and client success for WSP's Geotechnical and Tunneling Technical Excellence Center.
Lead geotechnical engineering projects, including execution of design-build and design-bid-build projects with a multi-disciplinary team from across the country.
Lead business development, proposals, and client interviews; represent WSP at conferences/workshops as a technical lead.
Mentor geotechnical engineering staff and assist with technical challenges.
Develop new client relationships and enhance existing ones, including winning new work.
Collaborate with regional, district, and local office leaders to strategically drive the business, manage project performance, oversee overhead expenditures, and meet operational metrics.
Assist WSP in attracting the best industry talent by fostering a work environment that is collaborative, values inclusion and diversity and invites broad, creative thinking including crafting a more attractive place to work, to help the business grow and thrive.
Develop plans, specifications, memoranda, special provisions, contract documents, and cost estimates.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Geological, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
Minimum of 12 years of demonstrated experience related to geotechnical engineering, including business development, analysis and design
Experience interpreting geotechnical data reports and providing geotechnical interpretive reports and/or geotechnical baseline reports
Ability to read, understand, and develop plans and specifications
Extensive working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials
Previous experience related to presentation of technical topics to clients
Excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities, and attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to manage complex budgets and schedules
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Registered engineer in Michigan or another U.S. State.
Candidate must be able to legally work in the US on a full time permanent basis

Your Impact
Work with the Regional PFA/Finance Managers to achieve the objectives of our Knowledge Sharing Strategy and Project Financial Analyst Training Program.
Work with the PFA Strategy & Development team to develop and deliver training to the Project Financial Analyst community.
Assist the PFA Technical Support team with forensic accounting on projects and Oracle audits and recertification's.
Maintain and communicate a central repository for PFA training and technical documents across all regions and business lines.
Work with the PFA Strategy & Development Technical team and Horizon team to provide UAT and QA testing of applications/systems enhancements and defects.
Works collaboratively with other teams within the organization to solve problems and achieve goals including Billing, AP, AR, Finance, Project Delivery, Operations and Procurement.
Other duties to be assigned on an Ad-hoc basis.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant post educational experience.
Must have excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills, and a strong understanding of accounting and contracting principles
Ability to present complex concepts and procedures to a large or small audience. Demonstrates proficiency in facilitating or writing technical training material
Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation and accounting software, technology, math principles, MS Excel, pivot tables, formulas, data format/sort/filter, VLOOKUP, predictive models, and tools.
Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply learned subject matter and technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

This is a professional role and as such work deadlines and work hours may extend beyond a typical workday.

Your Impact
Manage a team of geotechnical and tunneling engineers including tracking active projects and budgets, delegating tasks, coordinating across disciplines within project teams, coordinating with subconsultants, reviewing work, and providing professional guidance.
Contribute to proposal and cost estimate development and track business development opportunities, both internally and externally.
Perform professional geotechnical engineering work including design for tunneling projects, subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, slope stability, and operations to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, construction, or operating permits for commercial, industrial, building, environmental, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, soil/water/sludge/rock samples, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, hydrologic analysis, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
Apply high-level geotechnical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, drillers, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering focus
10+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and geotechnical design.
OH, MN, IN, or MI PE registration.

Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.

As part of the Nashville Airport Authority's Capital Improvement Program, WSP is seeking a Construction Inspector to assist in the delivery of construction projects within the Nashville Airport Authority's Development and Engineering Department. Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Construction Inspector will perform detailed inspections, provide recommendations, perform administrative items, and coordinate inspection activities for building, tenant renovation, maintenance, or other construction projects for the Airport Authority. Your Impact
The Project Coordinator will provide assistance on projects from procurement, design, and through construction on their assigned project. In addition, will support/oversee engineering/architectural design, bid/RFP/RFQ evaluation, contract administration, project scheduling, coordination, inter-utility coordination, quality control, decisions and supervision to ensure projects are completed within the stipulated time and allocated budget. Supports coordination with other Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) divisions, project stakeholders and regulatory agencies (MNAA staff, airlines, concessionaires, Fed/State/local government agencies including, Metro Codes, TSA, FAA etc.) as appropriate. Support cost estimates and projections/cash flow/estimate at completion for projects. Schedule and conduct design and construction progress meetings. Coordinate activities with outside agencies to assure timely completion of all projects. Utilize electronic tools including Procore, CADD system, and other computer systems. Coordinates construction maintenance of traffic plans, utility shutdown requests, impact notices, disruption notices, contingency planning and other tasks as needed. Compile and analyze technical data and prepare reports concerning project related activities. Horizon work is predominately done with Progressive Design-Build contracts, experience with this contracting methodology is a plus.
Additional Duties:
Assists with contract administration & project scheduling.
Coordinates with multiple personnel including designers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed within the stipulated time and allocated budget.
Coordination of daily aspects of the project with internal and external stakeholders

Ensures final project deliverables (As-Builts & O&M Manuals) meet MNAA standards.

Knowledge of New Jersey Department of Transportation design standards and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Permitting processes is a plus.
High Competency levels in multiple disciplines including ecosystem restoration, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and stormwater management & best management practice design.
Experience using various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, StormCAD, Microstation and Civil 3D AutoCAD) is required.
Proven experience with ArcGIS is a plus.

This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Wastewater Treatment System Technician for our Blue Bell PA office. The following locations will also be considered: Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA Bristol, PA, Lawrenceville NJ, Morristown, NJ, Somerset, NJ, and Marlton, NJ. Be involved in projects with our Environmental Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. This position will primarily involve collecting groundwater, soil samples and perimeter air monitoring for laboratory analysis.
Your Impact
Operate and maintain a temporary waste water treatment system. Daily tasks include bag filter change outs, performance monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance.
Perform field tests according to prescribed procedures, processes and standards using field instruments and other environmental equipment
Collect samples of water and prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summary reports
Prepare and maintain field logs, reports on paper and/or electronically
Maintain a wide range of field monitoring and remediation systems
Field activities including data collection, evaluation and documentation.
Construction oversight of subcontractors, as needed.
Current sites are in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Support to other WSP offices may require travel throughout these states and the greater northeast and will include overnight travel.
Workload is expected to occur 5% in the office and 95% in the field (within Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and possibly surrounding states).
Candidate may be required to work overtime hours in excess of 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week on a routine or as-needed basis. This position has straight time and time and half overtime eligibility.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
3 years of environmental field tech experience or 3 years of relevant wastewater experience is preferred
Ability to use laboratory and/or test equipment in an effective and safe manner
Preferred Qualifications
Strong work ethic and high degree of flexibility and patience to adjust to changing work priorities.
Experience in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint is deisred
Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator / Fit for Duty Exam / Medical Exam.
